@EmeraldBitch

Another day of Irish weather and about ten minutes after this photo the sun was shining and everything is calm again haha

@EmeraldBitch

My dog Chester, I have had this dog since he was born, I literally pulled him out of his mother. He is a mix of a German Shepherd (mother) and a Wicklow Collie (father). He is the sweetest and most gentle dog, a little too nice he gets a little bullied by his parents when it comes to food.

@EmeraldBitch

A storm the other night rattled my greenhouse too much and my tray of beetroot seedlings was knocked over ๐Ÿ˜ฃ hopefully I saved them ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

@EmeraldBitch

Got a composter, would be awesome if we didn't need to buy compost. Another step towards self-sufficiency... Next is a water butt.

@EmeraldBitch

Got some herbs. I'm most excited about my chamomile plants and they smell so nice, you can make so many nice things from chamomile like tea or lotions.

@EmeraldBitch

Some other herbs I got. Garlic chives, coriander and sorrel.

@EmeraldBitch

A little harvest. I'm so disappointed to find a little rotten spot on the big pumpkin ๐Ÿ˜ข

@EmeraldBitch

A nice rainbow after a shower of rain. Pity the windmills ruin the photo.

@EmeraldBitch

Autumn is definitely my favourite time of year ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‚

@EmeraldBitch

My turnips sprouted up about a week ago, now my carrots have popped up and even my purple garlic has a couple of tiny leaves peeping out of the soil.

@EmeraldBitch

Broccoli plant, one of three I gave to my mother-in-law, I always do extra encase some fail and if not it always nice to share plants.

@EmeraldBitch

An antique in the 16th Century Craggaunowen Castle, County Clare, Ireland.

@EmeraldBitch

Cute caterpillar in my garden, I helped him get to a tree ๐Ÿ›

@EmeraldBitch

The sun was shining when we left the house, but by the time we had got to the shop, the sun was gone.

@EmeraldBitch

I fear soon we all will feel the heavy weight of chains.

@EmeraldBitch

I'm really happy with my garden, this time last year the only bit of life in our concrete yard was a patch of weeds under our fuel tank... I can't wait to see what it will look like next year. It might be sad to say but I am very proud of myself, I didn't think I could grow anything.

@EmeraldBitch

And the sun came back out. It is actually quite hot today, only a couple of nights ago we had to put on a fire to heat the house and now I could nearly go sunbathing.

@EmeraldBitch

My marigold ๐Ÿต๏ธ yesterday and today.

@EmeraldBitch

Frosty morning that turned into a beautiful day.

@EmeraldBitch

I love these cold mornings. Autumn is my favourite time of year.

@EmeraldBitch

Planted beetroots in my new big planter, I hope they grow okay they have been through a lot, twice they were all knocked over when they were in the seedling tray. Only time will tell now if they are strong enough to make it, I'm hopeful.

@EmeraldBitch

Climber on my fence, I never planted this, it just started growing by itself not long after we put up our fence, it must have been waiting for something to climb up. Even when dying it is quite beautiful.

@EmeraldBitch

A little shamrock growing with my Irish heritage lavender ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ’š

@EmeraldBitch

So many stinging nettles behind my fence, I must gather them up and try make fertiliser out of them, I've heard it is really good for plants.

@EmeraldBitch

I finished it and I feel great ๐Ÿ˜ I actually fought against it a bit as I was reading, almost arguing with the author in my head, disagreeing with him, but something clicked a few days ago and I just lost interest in junk food and I just felt so good, looking in the mirror I already feel like I see a difference, eventhough I know I couldn't possibly have lost weight after only three days of eating good, I can see I look happier or something. Just like when I quit smokingโ€ฆ

@EmeraldBitch

Today is wet and overcast, standard Irish weather for this time of year.

@EmeraldBitch

My stepfather's cat had kittens ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›

@EmeraldBitch

Little ginger kittens, only one day old. Very sweet. ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ

@EmeraldBitch

I'm am very upset, I found out yesterday that every one of the pumpkins we grew at the farm, except for one, was harvested by a member of staff. We've been looking forward to harvesting the pumpkins all summer, I made my own fertiliser for them and even went up in the rain to give it to them, harvesting is the best part, it's the reward and we wanted to get our three year old involved and get lots of photos but now that's gone, they returned our pumpkins as they were onlyโ€ฆ

@EmeraldBitch

Beauty isn't always the perfect or flawless things, in nature the flawed, old and dying are beautiful too, the bruised and deformed are unique and quirky, the old and dying are grateful and wise. To me the only real ugly things are the fake and unnatural things that have invaded our world.

@EmeraldBitch

Harvested some brussel sprouts and leeks for dinner. I personally didn't like the leeks and brussel sprouts together, but my husband thought they were delicious.

@EmeraldBitch

Didn't get many big pumpkins but lots of very cute little pumpkins. I'll do better next year, this year was a learning experience. ๐ŸŽƒ

@EmeraldBitch

Another one of those days, one minute it is lovely and the next it is lashing rain. Today seems more nice than bad.

@EmeraldBitch

Today was such a beautiful day, we couldn't stay at home, we went to Bunratty folk park, our favourite place to waste a day.

@EmeraldBitch

A stunning view from the walled gardens at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park.

@EmeraldBitch

Autumn is my favourite time of year, especially days like this, everything looks so pretty.

@EmeraldBitch

Super friendly sheep, was really hard to leave them

@EmeraldBitch

Scattered the pumpkins about, it gives the garden a nice autumn feel ๐Ÿ

@EmeraldBitch

The sun is shining, but there is a cold bite in the air.

@EmeraldBitch

Part of the same plant but one is still young and beautiful and the other withered and dying ๐ŸŒน

@EmeraldBitch

A beautiful autumn day spent around nature, these are always my happiest days ๐Ÿ

@EmeraldBitch

2 fiesty pigs, a trio of friendly sheep, and some angry geese, this day was a fun one ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฆข๐Ÿฆข๐Ÿฆข๐Ÿฆข๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

@EmeraldBitch

Two pots of carrots, a pot of garlic and a pot of little turnips, everything seems to be going strong.

@EmeraldBitch

I love these funky trees, they look like something from a Dr. Seuss book.

@EmeraldBitch

Big spider in the woods ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ

@EmeraldBitch

Got the last pumpkin, but also found a few small ones hiding in the weeds.

@EmeraldBitch

Flowers look lovely in the rain โ˜”๐ŸŒธโ˜”

@EmeraldBitch

Giant brussel sprout? Or tiny cabbage? ๐Ÿค”

@EmeraldBitch

It's nearly Samhain, and I can't wait, even going to try make our own marshmallows.

@EmeraldBitch

My blueberry bush is looking very pink and pretty.

@EmeraldBitch

Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or a meat eater everything we eat is alive. Plants are as alive as a cow or chicken, just because their way of living is different to ours it doesn't mean they are not alive. They start as a seed, like us, they grow and then pop out when ready, like us, they live their life growing and if left alone they will age and whither and die, just like us. The leaves on my young eucalyptus tree have veins, the colour slightly changes depending on theโ€ฆ

@EmeraldBitch

My local garden shop like to leave out plants for people to take home for free, they are usually unlabelled and a little weak, so when we do a big shop there we'd take one or two. This is one we got about a month ago and it was unlabelled so I don't actually know what kind of flower this will be, looks like it will be beautiful. I love a good mystery and I also like free things.

@EmeraldBitch

It's not just flowers that are beautiful, some plants have beautiful leaves or even branches.

@EmeraldBitch

Gorgeous kittens, I am so tempted to take one but we already have 3 big dogs and an old cat that doesn't really like other animals, she just about likes us.

@EmeraldBitch

These are the pumpkins we planted in a small patch of weeds out our front, did pretty good in my opinion. I hope everyone has a fun and mysterious Samhain ๐Ÿโ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿ

@EmeraldBitch

I love the way flowers look in the rain ๐ŸŒผ

@EmeraldBitch

Part 1. I made my own shampoo today with conkers from the horse chestnut tree and coconut milk. 1) cut about 20 conkers into quarter pieces 2) boil conkers in 500ml of water and simmer for around 25minutes 3) strain liquid into a container 4) either freeze liquid now for later use or add tin of coconut milk and mix.

@EmeraldBitch

Part 2 5) add essential oils of your choice. 6) stir into mixture 7) pour into a suitable container and use within a month. Mine came out a bit watery, I'm not sure if that is the way its supposed to be but I'll give it a go.
