✝️ Text: Phil. 4: 6
_“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”_
The admonition from our text is very clear, but inspite of the clarity the truth is that many are still anxious today. Many are managing various ailment all as a result of their inability to stay away from the path of worry and anxiety.
In this devotional therefore we shall consider four things we need to avoid if we truly seek to be free from anxiety.
👉🏾 *Thinking on Wrong Things*
Proverbs 23:7 reminds us, _*“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”*_ In the same way, what your thoughts feast on will define who and what you become. If you rehearse in your mind all that might go wrong, you’ll make yourself anxious and fearful.
And if you’re talking about what makes you anxious, you’ll likely kindle worry in those around you.
If you allow negative and fearful thoughts to hold you captive then you will not be free from worry and anxiety. Wrong thoughts will provoke negative energy around you and positive or good thoughts will promote positive energy around you. And this goes a long way to determine the things that play out in your life.
👉🏾 *Forgetting Who Is in Control*
Fear and worry reveal much about your walk with God.
If you have a real relationship with Him, through repentance and surrender to Christ, then God promises to become your Father.
If you’ve been a Christian for any length of time, you’ve probably heard that God is your Heavenly Father who promises to work all things together for good to those who love Him (Romans 8:28). To explain it in a more simple way, if you are a child of God then you need to understand that God is the one totally in control of your life and not you. So get out of God’s way and allow Him to do His job of guiding you, providing for you, protecting you and generally working out His purpose in your life. Oftentimes we have no control anyway over the things we worry about so why not allow God who has control over them to take charge?
To be free from worry and anxiety your thought is important and equally important is the fact that you need to constantly remind yourself that you are not in control, God is.
To give room for anxiety over any matter when you know that God is in control of all things is to insinuate that God is incompetent or cannot be trusted to ensure that the problem or the challenge confronting you turns out to your advantage eventually.
All praise to God, He is well able and competent, nothing can ever be out of His control, all you need do is to trust Him completely with the issues of your life and you will wave goodbye to worry and anxiety. Shalom.
