We all want freedom. To pursue our ambitions, hobbies, beliefs, hopes and dreams. To speak freely, to disagree to sing, dance, explore and love.
However, when was the last time you felt you could do anything with the spontaneity that is so romanticised? Take a weekend trip, head to the cinema, start a business etc. Has the high cost, red tape, bureaucracy, rules, regulations etc put you off something that you have dreamt of doing?
In 2016 a poll discovered 1 in 3 middle class adults who received an unexpected £500 bill would require the use of a loan to pay off. Some more chilling statistics from a few years back: A third of Brits have less than £600 in savings. 1 in 10 have no savings at all. With the effects of the furlough schemes and the national lockdowns imposed on us by the governments, I would wager these figures are much worse now. And I would also assume the situation is very similar in countries across the world. Not just the UK.
I know that I could not afford an unexpected bill and what meagre savings I had managed to squirrel away have been dipped into on more than a few occasions. As a result, I have been driving less than ever. Petrol is an unwanted expense the off chance of needing to replace a tire or fix some other mechanical wear and tear, I would be in trouble.
Sadly individuals such as you and me cannot magically print money to fund whatever we like and expect other people to pay the debt, as the government so kindly does to us.
Covid-19 aside, there have been a few chilling predictions that have come to fruition that we should all be deeply concerned about: ‘Track and trace apps’ were the thing of speculation and rumour in the early days of the pandemic but are now commonplace and provide the government with the means to know our coming and goings.
The notion of ‘passports’ to allow vaccinated people freedom to move has also been on the cards for a long time and the ever-increasing detail of the rumoured project are, I think, a sure sign of their development.
Did you vote for any of what you see happening around us?
There is growing resentment and anger about the way the worlds governments are using this current situation to impose rules, regulations, etc upon us. It’s a worrying time for many for a myriad of reasons.
Our futures, mine, yours, your friends, and your families are not to be toyed with and manipulated to help meet the agendas the government may have become transfixed on.
Freedom is something that must be fought for. For many that means getting out to protest for a cause or collecting signatures on a petition. However, these are ‘approved’ methods of rebellion that are accepted by governments as they are easy to pacify, infiltrate or simply ignore.
For the past year, as I have watched British people be treated like animals rather than people in a “freedom-loving country.” It has left me scratching my head for answers to the question;
How do we come together and stand up in a way that cannot be easily pacified, subverted, or ignored?
The answer comes in two parts. Currency and Law. You do not have to be a financial expert or a lawyer to understand or get involved in the solution
In the coming couple of articles, I will explore how the currency we use and the manner in which our laws are applied can be used to best effect in reclaiming our freedoms from what can only be regarded as a tyrannical system.
