First of all, the play to earn model was built on a free to play model. So, observing from that model, is splinterland free to play? I would say No. I have been playing it for two months now, and I have never won even a single game, even against a weaker enemy. Why is that, because splinterland is not free to play, you can say free to preview. But not to play.

While scrolling, I came across their magic book, which they sell for $10, which I haven't paid yet. But by assuming, I am guessing that's their subscription fee in order to be an active participant in their game( I mean start winning games), and also, participate in their adventures to win energies, special attacks, etc.

Above image shows my recent data on splinterland, as you can see, not even a single win. Some of those opponents had less power levels than mine. So I wouldn't allude that to their ability to select a strong team. Since in some battles, me and my opponents were evenly matched, similar team, but I still get the L.

So, is splinterland free to play? No. Now why am I posting this article?

Crypto community was made in order that even the smallest guy appears to be winning. Who is the smallest guy, the guy starting with no capital, since they are the one's willing to put the time into these projects. The guys with capital don't have time to be guinea pigs. So why build a model that is aimed at consumers who have no interest whatsoever?

Plus splinterland is complicated, it needs temperate individuals who are willing to learn how the entire game is structured. I only started understanding how it works after playing four games, not only because of the games, but I gave myself time to read how the game works.

Most gamers want to lock and load, you know. After loading, press play now button and it's guns blazing. So if I have to study to understand a game and also have to pay subscription fee, am I not getting reaped off?

I mean if I am paying, make it seamless for me to navigate and play. So unless you are a nerd with money, most participants will quickly close the tab upon signing up.

So is splinterland a good game?

At the moment, I wouldn't classify it under the "best" play to earn games in the crypto world. There are better free games, less profitable since there is no cash injection to boost the overall value. But by far in terms of fun, entertainment and simplicity, there are better games, way better games than splinterland.

For one, Decentraland is still better than splinterland. Free-to-play, better graphics, myriad earning options.

Thank you
