Gold medal awarding ceremony for heroic deeds. Gorgeous arrangement. But no one is the recipient of this prestigious medal. A rat got the medal. The African rat was given the honor on Friday for his high-risk work such as landmine detection.
According to the BBC, the rat named Magwa has identified 39 landmines and 27 unexploded ordnance in his career. The tiny creature has helped save many lives by identifying and removing high-risk landmines in the Southeast Asian country of Cambodia. The medal was awarded by the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA), a UK-based animal charity.
Although 30 animals received the award for this bravery, for the first time, the rat magwa received this award. The gold medal of PDSA is engraved with the words 'for the heroism and conscientiousness of animals'.
