Faisal Ahmed, assistant manager of Shimulia Ghat of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), told Prothom Alo around 10:30 am on Monday that 50 trucks, big and small, were stuck at the edge of Shimulia Ghat and 110 trucks were stuck at Kanthalbari Ghat. Since this waterway is closed indefinitely, everyone is asked to take an alternative route.

Ahmed Ali, a naval officer at Shimulia Ghat, said excavations were underway at the Lohajong Channel. As a result, the ferry service has stopped. The ferry service will resume as soon as the authorities give instructions.
