US President Donald Trump has announced the dismissal of Secretary of Defense Mark Asper.

Trump's term as president is just two months and 10 days, and he has replaced the minister.
He thanked Asper for his role so far and nominated Christopher C. Miller as acting Secretary of Defense.
Miller was director of the National Counterterrorism Center.
Mark Asper decided to resign, and he was going to submit his resignation letter. Defense Secretary Esper disagreed with President Trump on various issues.
Asper had directly opposed Trump's threat to use force to quell protests after the death of black George Floyd in police repression a few months ago.
