It is quite undeniable that modern technology has absolute control over everyone's lives.

Nowadays, we work, live, shop, play, communicate, and connect with the world through social networking.

We have embraced the advancement of technology that we seek only the benefits it gives to us, while we completely ignore its downfalls. Today we spend almost all of our time online, and the Internet holds a key role in different areas of our lives.

It is not doubtful that modern technology has loosened up our lives and made our connection with the world easier, but we cannot deny the fact that Modern technology also has many visible flaws.

Modern Technology plays a big impact on how children learn, get entertained, how they interact with friends, their level of creativity, and how they behave in society. Today’s children are using technologies more than the previous generations. It is not bad to give children technological products like tablets, smartphones, iPods, televisions, and computers, but the role of parents is to guide them on how to use technology and set limits on when to use these gadgets. Modern technologies have become addictive to so many children. Many kids have become video game addicts, which leaves them with no time to interact with other children.

Modern Technologies have a lot of disadvantages and negative effects on children. Screen time can make a kid fat because of spending more time watching television or playing video games on tablets. One of the main reasons why children spend more time with technology is because parents are too busy to spend time with their kids. These Technologies weaken the relationship between kids and their parents. Since most parents have less time with their children because they have to work, kids have replaced their parents with technology.

Parents should spend more time with their kids to refrain their children from using their gadgets most of the time. Kids are also often exposed to persuasive advertisements which might attract them to engage in risky behaviors. Parents should block access to certain websites that might be harmful to their kids. Because of technology, most children have poor social skills. They are spending most of their time online that they forget how to socialize with their peers.

Modern Technology is often referred to help uplift people’s lives. But time and experience tell us that technology can both worsen and help fight poverty. Poverty is much more than just earning less than a certain minimum level of income to provide the family's basic needs. Poverty has social, economic, ecological, political, cultural, and spiritual dimensions.

Modern technology has a huge impact on worsening economic poverty and widening income inequality. The gap between rich and poor nations, and between the rich and poor within nations, has widened as a result of unequal access to information and communication technology (ICT), also known as the “digital divide.” On the social dimension, jobless growth has become a problem for nations.

As Technology-based production processes decreasingly rely on human labor, a lot of unskilled and low-skilled workers are already losing their jobs, and also their self-esteem. Ecological poverty has also been worsened by Modern Technology. Technology-driven industrialization has brought widespread pollution and environmental degradation. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that are now widely used in commercial agriculture and food production have led to fear of various illness on human health and the environment.

For the political dimension, governments find themselves ill-equipped to prevent economic crises caused by the actions of private individuals like international currency traders and fund managers, and online hackers. It is because Modern Technology has permitted split-second transactions that could move billions across the world with just a few taps on the computer. Cultural poverty is also a result of the global mass media and the internet that are homogenizing cultures toward the lifestyles of the West.

Cultural identity along with social norms and values are under threat. On the spiritual dimension, the way Modern Technology leads people to feel that human destiny is completely within their control tests the ethics and values all over the world. Still, worsening poverty in its various dimensions does not need to be the inevitable result of technological advancement.

Modern Technology might have given us a lot of benefits for our good, but we should and we must also be responsible for using these benefits. People should control their use of technology, otherwise, technology will be the one controlling them. Don’t be just locked up inside a 4 or 5 inches mobile phone away from the world. There is more to life than just spending most of your time on social media. The Internet is just an escape from the real world and not the other way around.

It is sad but this is true, some mom's been so busy with their work that is why they will just give a distraction to their kids so that they can use their time to it. Just like smartphone and tablet, there are also some mom that spend time in their social media sites than to spend more time to their kids, just some.

I couldn't agree more with the examples you have given. It is so sad to see parents not doing their responsibility to their children. :?

That is why the kids is more focus in their smartphone than doing what a kid should do, like play with some sports.

The sad reality is that the technology shapes us and not us that shaping it. It influencing our lives to the full extent. It is good that it makes our lives easy but depending on it so much is bad.

So true. That is why we need to practice ourselves not to rely too much on these technological products. Our ancestors were able to live a good life back then without technology, why can't we?

True, we must have the control of it and not the reciprocal.
