It is evident that the Corona virus has caused schools to close, leaving students to stay inside their houses. While there are a lot of children's shows available on Netflix and YouTube, it seems like it is never enough to entertain kids.

If you are a parent running out of creative ideas to keep your child busy during this Covid-19 quarantine, worry no more as there are more resources to entertain and educate children- including ways to teach youngsters to love the environment.

Nature brings a lot of benefits to children, including both physical and mental. And now is the best time to get your kids know more about it. While nature-loving children find it as a great idea to be outside the house, there are kids who prefer to just stay at home with their gadgets.

Don't worry because I've got some suggestions on how to lure them there.

1. Plant with your kids

  • Planting with your kids is a great way for you to have an amazing time together. Let them lend their helping hands. Just by letting them watch you plant your favorite ornamental plant, you are already teaching your child the importance of planting to the environment.

2. Teach them the value of recycling.

  • If you have a lot of recyclable materials at home, it is now time to make use them. There are a lot of available resources online that you can follow like turning a plastic bottle or container into a pot, and cutting wrappers into a pillow. Also, teach them to use reusable water bottles. Through recycling, you get to teach your kids on how it minimizes our impact to the environment.

3. Set up a home garden.

  • Buying groceries is not as easy as it used to be. If you have an available space in your backyard where you can set up a home garden, take advantage of it. Involve your kids in planting foods that they like to eat, or the fruits and vegetables you want them to try. This is a fun way to teach them about the importance of growing your own food.

4. Allow your kids to get dirty.

  • While there are a lot of parents who are overprotective to their children, it is also good to just let them get outside and play in the dirt with other children. Kids are curious in nature, and it is good to give them the freedom to explore and experiment with the environment. Just by letting children to pick flowers, run through the grass, or catch fireflies, it is already a good interaction between kids and nature.

These are just some of the fun activities to educate your kids about nature during quarantine. The more they are involved with the environment, the more they will be dedicated in helping to preserve the world.
