Twitter: Adding BTC and ETH wallet support-Was that the right thing to do?
With the highest ratings for Decentralized finance, (DeFi) apps, NFTs, gaming, and technology, it's a no brainer ETH is currently the most popular cryptocurrency and many people believe it has a higher price potential than Bitcoin.
Twitter and Ethereum
Adding BTC wallet support was a solid move on Twitter's part, but ETH...
I'm not saying they're in the wrong or anything, but the problem with Ethereum is obviously...
GAS FEES. (I know you guys saw it coming)
You can call me petty lol, but gas fees are a menace.
If you use ETH for your transactions, then you understand how terrible gas fees can be.
Because of the large number of transactions going on every second, gas fees for ETH have literally become something else. I have to pay almost double the amount to send someone $50?
No thank you, I'll use my BCH.
(PS. if you're sending thousands or millions in ETH, you can ignore my ranting.)
Real life Situation
Say you want to tip someone with ETH on Twitter, how much would you tip?
Obviously not thousands of dollars right?
A Fact
Let's face it. The cold, hard truth is that Ethereum isn't meant for 'little transactions', the major reason being gas fees.
The lower the ETH you're sending, the more annoying gas fees seem.
I don't know whether they plan on it, but it'll be nice to see Twitter add more wallet options after Bitcoin and ETH.(Especially BCH).
Ethereum Alternatives(lower fees)
Some low-fee alternatives to consider:
Bitcoin cash- Of course, our native Cryptocurrency here on read.cash would be the first on the list.
Litecoin.
TRC-20 USDT.
The Future of Social media Platforms
With Crypto and NFTs blowing up, it's nice to see you can now send BTC/ETH tips, my only issue being the damned ETH gas fees.
Hopefully, other social media start integrating blockchain technology and different cryptocurrency into their platforms.
