FEMINISM
Feminism is a doctrine or movement that advocates equal right for women. Feminism is both an intellectual commitment and a political movement that seek justice for women an target the end of sexism in forms.
In addition feminism is the belief that women should be treated as potential equals and as social equal to men. A woman should have right to vote, when an election is approaching a woman will declare that one thing is certain , they will vote. And not only this , the selected political woman must represent the real female, values suchas more women in senior position , support of the poor and marginalized in society and openness and tolerance towards other races and religion.
(1) WOMEN HAVING CHILDREN AT A YOUNGER AGE:
In the 1980s, the average age for the birth of a woman first child was just 22. That means that half of all American women were mother before their 22nd birthday, and were therefore shuffled into a life of motherhood, and home making before they had a chance to think about what they wanted to do with their lives.
(2) RIGHT TO VOTE:
Women in the late 80s were restricted from voting as a result of some reason base known to the government. In 1872, Susan B. Anthony attempted to vote in the presidential election and was arrested and tried in Rochester, New York, in battle Creek, Michigan; sojourner truth demanded a ballot and was turned away. The suffrage movement was in full swing
(3) GENDER DISCRIMINATION:
Some examples of this type of behavior are refusing to hire a woman, giving a woman promotion over a man solely because of his gender, or paying women low money than men to do the same job.
TYPES OF GENDER DISCRIMINATION
Gender discrimination is a broad term used in describing two types of unlawful behavior.
First is making decision that confers an employment benefit solely based on employee’s gender or sex. Some example of this type of behavior are refusing to hire a woman
Secondly is sexual harassment; the common type of sexual harassment is hostile work environment discrimination. This occurs when a coworker or supervisor behavior creates a hostile , intimidating , or offensive environment at work . Behavior that interferes with a person’s ability to do his or her job.
Thirdly, in some African church, women are restricted from preaching or even taking part in church activities , their comments are not even welcome in church.
TYPES OF FEMINISM
Radical feminism, socialist, cultural and liberal feminism. In today society , feminist ought to disagree about what sexism consist in and what exactly to be done about it.
ADVANTAGES OF FEMINISM
(1) The women have gain equality
(2) The women are able to participate in election
(3) The women are able to speak in public
(4) The women are able to demand their rights
DISADVANTAGE OF FEMINISM
(1) GENITAL DIFFERENCE: Some women think that a man and a woman should be equal in everything . And everything includes their physics, to also have some body. Some women have preferred to live with a lesbian and forget men.
(2) HARASSMENT : In some countries, it is dangerous when a man sees a woman, because she might consider it as harassment . Also it is also dangerous in some locality , because if a man rubs a woman as an accident , the woman is able to see the man for a sexual harassment
(3) ANTI MALE : Many woman want to have children , but some of them think that a sexual relation is a violent action . To avoid this “violence” they choose for inseminate.
WAYS FEMINISM HAS HELP THE SOCIETY
It been a tough road, women seeking the most basic civil rights , the right to vote , right to own property , the right to work , the right to control ones own body. Feminism has challenge and confronted social injustice , addressed the intersecting impact of gender , race class , culture , religion , sexual orientation and disability ad drawn attention to countless other compelling instances of inequity and oppression.
