Google bans some apps over malware

GOOGLE has banned over 130 apps over the past six months after they were found to be riddled with malware.

Android users are being advised to delete the apps if they have them on their smartphones.

The Google Play Store is battling almost constantly with cybercriminals trying to upload apps full of malware.

Google does have extensive security measures but sometimes apps can slip through the net.

This includes apps that are used to hack and steal data or ones that brick your phone withe adware.

Google deletes malicious apps as soon as a problem is spotted but sometimes this is too late for people who have already downloaded them.

The Express rounded up the last six months of Android warnings about apps users need to delete.

The majority of which can be found in the list above.

Some of the apps were signing users up to premium rated services without their permission.

This includes popular app SnapTube that had over 40 million downloads.

It's always best to check your phone bill to make sure this isn't happening to you.

Others started showing too many ads and this kept happening even when the app wasn't in use.

Some apps can silently steal data and can be harder to detect.

Make sure you do your research on any apps you download and get them from the official Play Store.

In other news, Snapchat is testing a new explore feature that could make it a lot more similar to TikTok.

And, Tinder has started testing a new 'virtual dating' feature that will let you video chat with your potential lover.
