One of the most popular stories in the whole of the bible, the relationship between Abraham and Isaac. It is easy to recall that Abraham was childless for many years, but God showered His blessings upon Abraham and he was given a child after many years. Abraham was given a super test from God which he took very serious and passed all of them. He was given a son and was also given another test from God. God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son, that scared Abraham. But because he was a God fearing man he decided to obey God. This is a very hard test because most people might not sacrifice their only child.
Abraham's fear was his child but it was also his faith, he decided to choose faith over fear. This leads us to the true meaning of the verse and the story. After preparing all the materials for sacrifice, Isaac shocked his father with a question which was Where is the Lamb for the sacrifice. Abraham had no choice but to tell Isaac that he was the sacrifice to God. Isaac became sad and his father put him on the pavement to sacrifice him. A voice came from the skies telling Abraham that he should sacrifice the lamb that he provided for at his back. He was relieved of the stress given to him and he glorified God.
They went back to their fortress in joy and happiness, this story is so tragic, and teaches a lot of moral lessons. This story tells us that obedience is the key to blessing and open doors from God. These days people do not obey God the way they are expected to do. This is one of the problems of Christians, they do little or nothing for God. They don't obey his commandments, they just decide to behave the way they like and that is not a good way to live. As Christians we are expected to obey all the teachings of Christ and do all good things for the sake of Jesus. One is expected to emulate the good qualities that Isaac's father showed and be able to do all that we are told to do by the church.
Obedience is one of the basic attributes of the church of God. As Christians Faith in God is importance cause without faith our Christian life is not assured. The Lord's disciples had faith in him and that is why God saw them through all the days of their life. If Christians have faith in God their eternity in Heaven is assured. Faith is the starting point and the finish line for every christian, one must have faith for all the days of their lives. This story tells us that God is our provider and our giver. At the neck of time God provide Isaac and his father a Lamb for the sacrifice.
He is the same God who provided him a son at his old age. God never forgets his disciples and he will never because He is our creator.
