The Birds Of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a beautiful country. Birds have increased her beauty. We get up early in the morning and sleep at night hearing the sweet songs of different birds. The weather and geographical location in our country are suitable for bird's habitat. They are different in colours, sizes and habits.

In our country, the crow is most common of all birds. It is found everywhere in the country. It feeds on dirty things. It is a black and ugly birds. Its harsh voice is annoying.

Some birds like Sparrow, Tuntuni and Babui are known as tailor birds because of their extraordinary skill in weaving their nests. Babui is the most famous tailor bird. They build nests on palm trees tops. Sparrows love to build nests in some convert corners of people's houses. Tuntunis build nests in small trees.

Some birds are known as singing birds. Among them cuckoo, Doel, Bulbuli, Bau katha Kao and Chok-galo are famous. Cuckoo is the most popular song bird in Bangladesh. It is as black as crow. It comes in spring. Sitting on the shady grove they sing the songs of spring. Everyone likes it for its sweet tone.

Some birds are known as talking birds. Popular among them are parrot, Mayna, Shalik, Chandana and Shyma. Mayna is a brown bird with yellow beak and yellow legs. Parrots are green and they have beautiful hooked beak. Many people keep Parrots and Mayna as pets. Doel is our national bird. It eats worms and insects etc. It flies to and fro and blows whistle.

There are many game birds which are known for their tasty flesh. They include Heron, Partridge, the Dove, Pigeon and Pankowri.

There are some birds known as birds of prey. Among them kite, hawk and vulture are birds of prey. Vulture is a big ugly bird. It feeds upon the dead bodies of animals. These birds live on the wbig trees and fly in the sky. They have sharp claws and sharp beaks to tear flesh.

Birds are important part of our environment. Some birds eat worms and insects and protect our crops. Their sweet songs and voices entertain us and seem to tell us the stories of our day to day life. Thus, birds are wonderful gift of nature.
