Pahela Baishakh

The first day of Bangla year is called Pahela Baishakh. We celebrate this day to mark the beginning of the 1st day of Bangla New Year.

Pahela Baishakh is a very popular day in our country. Everybody enjoy this day. This day is very special for all of us.

People of our country wait for this day. When the day is come, their joy knows no bound. Because people likes this day very much.

Childrens are also enjoying this day. They wear different colourful dresses in this special day.

The rural people arrange Baishakhi Mela on this day.

Bangladesh is a land of different cultures. A lot of festivals are held in our country around the year.

Among these festivals, Pahela Baishakh is the most prominent common festival. It is celebrated on the first day of Bengali New Year. It is a unique and distinctive festival to the people of all classes and all religions in Bangladesh.

The day has a special attraction for the urban people. Shopkeepers open halkhata and offer sweets to their customers and clients. People rise early in the morning on this day.

They put on their best dress that is payjama and panjabi. Women wears saree. People take panta rice and dried pepper. They pass the whole day in great joy and forget the sufferings of life for the time being.

In the town, different organisations arrange meeting, seminar, symposium discussion. Different cultural organisations arrange various kinds of cultural functions. Pahela Baishakh has a great significance. It reflects our age old tradition and culture.

In this day, we try to forget the sorrowful events, exhaustion, distress of the previous year and welcome the new year together in a jealous mood dreaming of a better future.

Every year I went to Ramnar Bathmul. Every year I enjoyed this day with great joy with my friends and my family. I wear white and red colour saree.

We go to different places. See the cultural programme which held on this day.
