There are two types of unit of measurements ;fundamental unit and derived unit

Fundamental units: They are physical quantities Whoes units are base units they are not derived from any other quantity they are seven fundamental units namely; mass, length, time, electric current, temperature, luminous intensity and amount of substance.

Derived units: These are physical quantities Whoes units are derived by simple mathematical combination of one or more fundamental quantities. Any other physical quality outside the seven fundamental quantities is a derived quantity.

This really brings back memories from when I studied it in school Fundamental units are most common and are base units while derived units are gotten from fundamental units Their Measurements differ so as their units
