A self proclaimed “plain housewife” who have no political background but change the whole life of Filipinos. She was the only person who could call the people to the streets to express public outrage against the machinations and corruption of even the highest and most powerful politicians.
The speech was adorned by countless reference to her husband – Former Senator Ninoy Aquino whom the Filipinos nation had assigned as the poster boy for anti-Marcos movements and also it talks about the communist insurgency, restoring democracy and struggles of Filipinos in the time of regime Marcos,
After watching of her a half hour speech, even though I didn’t experience the kind of scenario way back of Marcos’ rampage in the Philippines, in my life I am proud to be a Filipino. In the speech she represented a victorious and proud Philippines that as she loves us and loves the nation. She was indeed, the real miracle of 1986 and true enough, the US Congress composed of representatives and senators gave her the longest standing ovation and applause for a foreign leader. During a speech, she was always interrupted by applause from the Senators and Congressmen. She became the first foreign leader to address a speech in the US Congress. Later that day, the US House of Representatives voted to give the Philippines an assistance package of S200 million dollars.
She was a symbol of motherhood, simple, caring, responsible, and always guard for her children. In all her life she did her best in all of her roles – as wife, as mother, as private citizen and as well as president. She is Cory Aquino, the one who stop the regime Marcos.
