Chivo Wallet in El Salvador

Finally, it is time to use the El Salvador government wallet for the use of BITCOIN. One more wallet was what I thought and I decided to use it and receive my $30 bonus.

The first big surprise, not available for Android models, however for iPhone models, at the first easy search (a little elitist if you ask me) However I decided not to give up and as expected, the apk file was on other pages ready for download, joy god level.

I installed it and oh, surprise! it didn't allow the registration process, legendary lucifer level frustration!

I decided to wait a few more weeks, at that time many were already using the wallet, for a country where the average standard of living is at least $300 to $600 but we have the luxury of having an iPhone that we can not eat is a bit surreal.

In that period of time the queues to get the wallet voucher increased, reaching a million users, if not more, due to the release of the new version for android models, which caused a total drop of the service in one of the telephones. This caused many new users to lose their vouchers. I waited prudently and once the bug was resolved, I decided to register, the usual, a phone number, sending a code to confirm the number, then the interesting thing, if you are a natural person or company, both are different processes, being a natural person, request date of birth and unique identity document number (DUI), then create a 6-digit code, not to mention, strangely, ask for a photograph of both sides of the document, confirm if everything was legible to conclude with a selfie. Achievement unlocked! $30 voucher received.

Of course, it wasn't exactly 30, more like $29.90 and varying, only those in the know. Still, the most important thing was missing, to know the movements that can be made with this wallet.

- You are supposed to send bitcoins, but the receiver gets dollars.

- You can send a phone number, a DUI, and most importantly, to the wallet.

- You can scan the QR code on your wallet to make it more convenient.

- There doesn't seem to be a way to send to other wallets.

- You can convert to cash directly in the CHIVO cashier.

- You can make exchanges between dollars and BTC, the only fee applied is the blockchain network fee.

- Sometimes when sending BTC it shows you that you have insufficient funds, on the second and third attempts everything works fine.

In summary, it is an app with potential but still needs to stabilize, no doubt it is a big step, time will dictate whether the use of BTC has been a good or bad bet.
