Nigeria, a beautiful country in west Africa is endowed with amazing sites and tourist attractions. Nigeria stretches from the coast at the Bight of Benin to the Gulf of Guinea.
Nigeria comprises of 36 states including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The wonders am about discussing spreads across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

If you have a travel bucket list and wants to explore Nigeria, these wonders are a must to visit. They are listed in no particular order:

1. Agbokim waterfalls

Agbokim waterfalls

The Agbokim waterfalls is located at Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State in south-eastern Nigeria. It is made up of seven streams flowing over steep cliff, providing a seven faced falls.
It is surrounded by abundant fauna and flora, steep hills and valleys.
During the rainy season due to the increase in the volume of water, an amazing blend of rainbow colours are produced. This makes the waterfalls more captivating.

2. Guara Waterfalls

It is located Guara town in Niger state. It is a tributary of the River Niger.
History has it, to be named after two gods.
It changes it shape with a change in the season.
It is the perfect spot to see wildlife or go fishing.

3. Iyake Suspended Lake

Iyake lake


It is the only suspended lake in Africa. It is situated in the Ado-Awaye town in Oyo state.
It is said to be bottomless as no one has been able to measure it successfully.

4. Idanre Hills

It is located in Idanre town Akure, Ondo state. The people of Idanre had existed for 800 years. They lived in the hills for 700 years before the relocated to the ground level.
The hill is characterized by dome-shaped high plain of about 3,000 ft above sea level with valleys and diverse ecosystems of flora and fauna.
Made up of 667 steps, mysterious footprints and handwriting on rocks and thunder water ( has some healing effect).

5. Ukanafun Blue River

It is located in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The colour of the river is blue and along it is another white coloured River. Both rivers do not mix and that's what makes the river worth seeing.
If the any of the water is poured into the other, they are reversed back into their original site.

6. Ikogosi warm and cold Springs

The spring is located in Ekiti West Local Government of Ekiti state, Nigeria. The spring is positioned in a valley. The warm spring gushes from the valley while the cold spring gushes alittle bit away from the warm spring. They both flow down the hill forming a small stream in the process. Such phenomenon has not been recorded anyway in the world.
The warm spring has a temperature of about 70 ⁰C at the source and 37⁰ C when it mixes with the cold spring. The confluence point is said to have healing effect on diseases like rheumatism and guinea worm.
Ikogosi Warm and Cold Springs has many recreational facilities like warm water swimming pool, motels, arts & crafts centre, recreational building and 1000 capacity amphitheatre building.

7. Yankari Game Reserve

The Yankari Game Reserve is located in Bauchi State in Nigeria. The reserve is a home to many wildlife accommodating more elephant populations.
Other wildlife like the buffaloes, Lions, hippopotamus are also found in the Yankari Game Reserve.
The vegetation found is mainly Sudan Savannah.

8. Owu Waterfalls

This natural waterfall is located in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara state, Nigeria. The waterfall is surrounded by hills, flora and fauna.
Picture a place with a fall of ice cold water, a beautiful rock path surrounded by an evergreen vegetation. If you did, that was Owu waterfalls on your mind.

9. Farin Ruwa Waterfalls

Farin Ruwa waterfalls is located in Wamba Local Government Area of Nassarawa State, Nigeria. The waterfall is whitish in colour, which at a distance appears as white smoke from a mountain top. This accounts for its name in Hausa ( ethnic group in Nigeria).
You won't regret visiting this spectacular waterfall.

10. Erin Ijesha waterfalls

The Erin Ijesha waterfalls, also known as Olumirin waterfalls is located in Erin Ijesha Local Government Area of Ogun state, Nigeria. It is a collection of a collection of seven cascades which flows over a cliff, giving it the appearance of seven segment waterfalls.
Surrounded by it are mind blowing vegetation.

11. Oguta Lake

This beautiful lake is located in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo state, Nigeria. It is Nigeria's largest natural lake with mind blowing vegetation.

12. Nok Settlement

Nok settlement

For lovers art, this is the right place to be. It is located at Jaba in Kaduna state, Nigeria.
Nok settlement is the home to Nok art/culture.
There is a large mountain which served as home to caves of ancient humans.

13. Obudu Mountain Resort

Obudu mountain Resort

Obudu Mountain Resort is located in the Obudu Plateau of Cross River State.
It is the largest man-made wonder in Nigeria.
The resort is equipped with modern facilities ranging from the cable cars to the water park. Heard of the famous devil's elbow? Just come to Obudu mountain resort.
It is a home to over 250 different species of birds.
The resort has a 60km canopy walkway for visitors to stroll through, it is built in form of a ladder tree house.

14. Millennium Park

The millennium park is located at Maitama, a town in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja . It is one of the largest park in Nigeria with alluring Italian architectural designs.
It is a sure place to be when next you visit Abuja.


15. Mambilla Plateau

Mambilla Plateau



The mambilla Plateau is situated in the highland area of Taraba state, Nigeria.
It is the home to the highest mountain in Nigeria, the Chappal Waddi mountain.
The amazing feature of this plateau, is the absence of insects.
There is a National Park within the landscape of the Mambilla Plateau where rare species of animals and birds are kept.


16. Confluence of River Niger and Benue

The confluence town is located in Lokoja, Kogi state in Nigeria. This is the point where two River Niger and River Benue meets. This point is shaped as a "Y" .
The two Rivers are distinguished as the both have different colours. River Niger has a brownish colour while River Benue has a greenish colour.
A view of this point from an aircraft is mind blowing to tourists.


17. Aso Rock

The height of the Rock makes it noticeable from any point in the capital city of Nigeria, Abuja. It's the home to three major seats of power of the Nigerian Federal Government which include ; Presidential villa ( Aso Rock villa), the Supreme Court of Justice and the National Assembly.
Tourist are allowed to visit the place.


18. Matsirga Waterfalls

The Matsirga waterfalls is located in Kaduna, Nigeria.
You will experience thrilling scenarios like the fleeting rainbows, unexpected smoke eruption.
The waterfall is so charming to behold.


19. Zuma Rock

Zuma Rock



The Zuma Rock is located in Madalla, Niger state, Nigeria.
It has a human face. Visiting Zuma Rock between April and October would give you the opportunity to see the popular Zuma Fire. As the top of the Rock catches fire under heavy rainfall. This has remain the biggest puzzle of Zuma Rock.

20. Kwa Falls

This is located in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River state. It has a narrow steep gorge from top to the bottom in which tourist could climb up or down the waterfall.
It is surrounded with flora and fauna, monkies and many rocks.
