The BIP * 155 , which incorporates V3 addresses from the Tor network, has joined the benchmark implementation of Bitcoin. It will be active in version 0.21 of Bitcoin Core which will be released "probably in December" 2020.
The Tor network, which is based on open source software, enables anonymous communication over the Internet. In July, its developers announced that the V2 addresses of the network - already in use for over a decade - will be "retired" on October 15, 2021. They will be replaced by the new V3 addresses, which are more robust and in development since 2015.
Along with Tor V3 addresses, the next version of Bitcoin Core will also incorporate a feature called "gossiping", allowing hidden nodes to find other nodes to connect to.
