Air Canada taking off $$?
Air Canada (AC-TSX) is Canada’s largest airline by fleet size and passengers carried. After two and a half years of low travel, I think this is the very beginning for a big boost in the aviation sector.
Some notable key executives of the company are CEO Michael Rousseau and Lucie Guillemette who both earn a respectable annual salary of +500k. There are around 21,100 employees which is a substantial decline from 2019 figures of 32,900.
Two shortcomings that must be addressed are the extreme staff shortages experienced both at airports and airlines plus the likely possibility for a economic recession. Consumers are becoming more aware of their spending behaviours as the price of most commodities increase. Additionally, flyers are not keen in experience long waiting times at Canada’s biggest airports such as Pearson or YVR.
I think one advantage this company will benefit from are the growing cost of fuel as the tourism and aviation industry are slowly set to increase and is vital to the Canadian Economy. The FED will most likely have to implement some sort of subsidy support as they hold 6% stake in the company but have previously exited from a $4.7 Billion Bailout in November 2021.
Thanks for reading my thoughts and I look forward to seeing your comments and feedback down below where you think Air Canada is going from here?
Hope everyone has a profitable day!
