Much of what Blockchain and Cryptocurrency is based on are the principles of Decentralization and privacy. While decentralization is one of the biggest buzzwords in the industry, I personally think a lot of people were also attracted into crypto by the privacy feature. There’s a reason a lot of Crypto twitter users are anonymous and hide behind anime and pepe avis, there’s a reason why Satoshi Nakamoto till this day is still anonymous, there’s a reason why privacy based coins like Monero and the likes are still holding strong till this day. I believe the growth of cryptocurrency will signal on one hand the growth of decentralization and usher the world towards a peer-to-peer future, but it will also lead to the growth of privacy-centricity also. Privacy based DApps will experience exponential growth in the years to come in my opinion.
One of such DApps I’m tipping to do good in the long term is STATUS. A Private Messaging app that truly is privacy focused. Status is probably the only privacy themed, and crypto based app I use right now. Status aims to become one of the leading private messaging apps, and I have no doubt that with time they’ll achieve that.
They do something similar to Reddit where each user upon signing up is given a pseudonym to keep them anonymous. With Status however, each new user is given an anonymous 3-word phrase name and this is to ensure the anonymity of every user and enable them interact as they would with the knowledge that their identity was safe from prying eyes. The innovativeness of Status shows again as they are more than just a Messenger app, they offer a full range of functionality that cannot be rivaled by any other app. The Status app comes with an in-built wallet that allows users to store and access their cryptocurrencies straight from the comfort of their apps. So you can chat, have fun with friends and do all the fun things you love, while also storing your ERC-20 tokens there also. The in-built wallet also allows pay other Status users directly from the app for items sold or services provided, eg: buying and selling of stickers, freelance services etc.
The Status app also comes embedded with a Web 3 Browser that allows users have access to all Web 3 DApps and sites. The level of innovation coming from the Status camp is one that gets me super excited for the future. Much has already been done, and much is still in the works to be achieved. With their v1.12 now live, I believe the only way for Status is now up, I expect big things to come.
