“Private Messaging” as a word being thrown around sounds very ironic to me. The truth about it which most of us know but just refuse to discuss or think about is that those who claim to offer this much sought after feature are anything but private with our most important commodity, OUR DATA. Many have never read the privacy policies they unconsciously sign up for across several apps. A quick glance across these contracts would show that the ‘privacy’ is a ruse and what they offer is in fact far from anything called Privacy. It is easy to see that to the big corporations users privacy is a farce, and users data is a lucrative enterprise.
There are a plethora of apps right now that claim to offer some modicum of privacy but a deep dive into trying to understand their workings will reveal that very far from it they do not. It seems though that Blockchain and decentralized networks might be the only solutions to privacy and data protection as we know it. Some of the core tenets of Blockchain as we know are its decentralization, Privacy and the anonymity that the network provides. This is if you ask me what Private messaging applications should posses before they can claim that they offer any privacy. The ability to be decentralized and not controlled by a central authority, it should provide maximum privacy and not give back end access to some people, and it should also offer anonymity to its users from prying eyes.
Blockchain is the only solution to the privacy haggle we are plagued with, luckily there are blockchain solutions dedicated to making privacy truly a thing and not a fairytale utopia we hope for. One of them is Status Privacy app; an app like the name says that dedicated to bringing true privacy to its users. Status comes with inbuilt privacy as users have to choose Three-word identity phrases, just like the way Reddit offers to give its users anonymous names.
The three word names are given to users to protect their privacy, and they allow users to be able to interact as they want without fear of being doxxed. Status also comes with an inbuilt wallet that allows users to store all their ERC-20 tokens. It’s one of the coolest features of Status to me; I can throw some crypto there and forget it which is the perfect form of hodling lol.
Another cool feature that Status comes with is their in-app browser that allows users to access Web 3 DApps. Like the more popular MetaMask and Trust Wallet, all coming with in-app browsers, Status also comes with one of its own. Still a much undervalued project right now, it is one whose team is constantly working to innovate and build to be better, I think the Status Network is one that will grow into a pretty big ecosystem. With the bull market that the Cryptocurrency market is currently experiencing, I think solid Fundamental Analysis projects like Status will be among those moon-shots that do really big things. I am holding a bag myself and I am giddy with anticipation for the run to come ahead. It’s definitely one project I would recommend for everyone to try out both the product for your privacy and to get a bag as an investment for the long term.
