The power of choice and decisions. The single thing that differentiates us from creatures is our power of reason and choice. The choices we make in our lives can make age long impact on our overall situation at that point in time and may even exceed or go beyond that. The quality of our lives is the sum total of the choices and decisions we make day in day out. Sometimes we make choices that even we ourselves are not sure of them, and then in some cases we come to deeply regret the choices we have made after suffering the consequences or are in the process of suffering them. We wish we had not made the choices we make but what is there in wishful thinking? Absolutely nothing! One of the skills we would never ever regret cultivating is our power of choice. When you are a 100% sure that the choice you are making is the right thing, you feel at peace and even if things do not turn out to be the way we had anticipated, we are left unperturbed because we knew we did our best. ***There is a little s****tory I would like to share with you guys*: There is this child who lived in a town. She was a girl. This girl is a very sensitive person who is fully aware of what is going on around her. She had really intense *There is this little girl who had very mighty feelings and it felt both like a gift and a curse to her. The depth at which she feels things is greater than that of an average human being. When she is hurt, she feels it deeply. When she is in a happy mood, she feels it greatly. It was like of all things with regards to feelings given to humans, hers was tenfold! These feelings where so great that they felt like an independent entity, not under her control but come and go whenever they want, fleeting in such a way that she is happy and chatty this minute, the next minute she is quiet and sad. These made it difficult for people to understand her and some people even thought that she had Multiple Personality Disorder, but it was nothing like that. This affected the decisions she made because she had to view it situation through the spectrum of each of her emotions, some of these emotions accept it while others reject it. Sometimes such* *situations lives her stranded with no idea as to what to do*. Now, some people say we tend to make better decisions and choices when we view them through the spectrum of reason rather than emotions but I beg to disagree. No matter how devoid of emotions we think our decisions are and think we are doing it purely from "reason", there is always a taint of emotion on it, because we have to protect ourselves, and our emotions are always at the defense to ensure that. *.....knowing quite well that it is hard to find someone who understands her, she started striving for Unity, Unity that comes when when you look at different things from different spectra, you see both the same thing, and at the same you see differences. They are the same, yet they are different. She realises that when one attains the height of Unity, there is that Oneness she wanted to attain to unify all those parts of her being. She realises that is the only way she can find true happiness and she is stilll on that path, knowing fully well that one day, she will attain it...* Hey you reading this, have you attained that Oneness yet? While riding in a canoe on a sea of emotions, have you ever tried becoming one with the Sea, 0ne with the Canoe, and 0ne with everything else in between? This is the choice that we all have to make in 0rder to learn secrets that can only be learnt in this state. Only then we acquire real invincibility over our choices, decisions....our life. That is the time we become nothing, and nothingness is the greatest beauty you can achieve in life.. Thanks for reading my little piece. I hope you enjoyed it. images used are from Unsplash.com I would also like to thank @McYusuf and every other person who renewed their sponsorships for the sponsorship renewal. Layla is most grateful. It's been a while! Hello Readstars! Hope you've all been doing well all these while. It's been a week since I have logged into readcash and to be honest, I missed you all. I missed reading all of your articles and dropping my comments. I have been busy with schoolwork. Lots and lots of it! Upon logging into readcash just now, I got about 1700+ readcash notifications when I tapped on the red bell. I was shocked and at the same time not so. I was shocked because I started wondering if someone logged into my account and subscribed to more people hence, the many notifications or perhaps I have actually spent more time off readcash more than I thought. I am typing this after replying to the comments on my previous article and to be honest, I don't know what to write about lol. 😂 Well... I guess I am just gonna tell y'all about my experiences in the past week: **I fell sick:** Well I actually did. I fell sick. Terribly sick. It was sudden and unexpected. It was a terrible headache that affected only a fourth of my head. It was later confirmed that it was a type of headache known as cluster headache. Cluster headache is a type of headache that affects only a portion of the head(either right or left) and unfortunately, cluster headache has no cure. You just have to let it go on its own. You have to savor every bit of the deep, agonising pain until it lets go of you. It was really terrible haha, but thank God I am fine now. Met a friend from six years ago: You know how good it feels when you meet a friend whom ypu have tried so hard to get their contact after your separation but couldn't, and then boom! fate reunites you both. I met a friend on Friday while I was returning from the teaching hospital. Her name is Baraka. Baraka and I attended the same junior secondary school and we were very good friends. In fact we were in the same hostel and the same corner. I tried contacting her after we separated but it was futile because she said(after we met) that her phone at that time was stolen. I even checked the group chat but she was nowhere to be found. I had other engagement after returning from the hospital but on meeting her near the school gate, I was so excited that I had to cancel all my plans for the day and we went to her house! There we ate, talked and talked until 5:00pm after which I left for the school. The world is indeed a small place. Life has a way of reuniting you with your lost friends, people whom you think you'll never meet again. **I dissected a cadaver for the first time**: This actually took place yesterday. I have never dissected a cadaver before except yesterday. In all the cadaver sessions we have been having, I either just watch other people do it because I find it way to "gruesome". Sometimes I find it difficult to even watch other people open up dead bodies because I am a very easily scared person. My personal values saw it as a sin against me. A sin to open up a body that should have been buried. A body that should have been laid to rest rather than used as a practical sample for students. It just felt wrong to me and there was actually a point in time where I wanted to quit. I realised just yesterday that all those feelings are just sentiments of my own personality which, although I can't so away with, this is a path I have chosen to walk for the rest of my life. I still have to find a way to make peace with my feelings and focus at the task at hand if I ever want to do this, so I let it go and yes, I did it! **My spiritual guide :** The spiritual path is a path you can't walk alone. Well.. You can walk it alone but it becomes alot more easier when you have a friend. A companion. A Guide. I have been exploring my inner self of late and I have been really serious with it. I guess the Universe decided to reward me with a spiritual teacher to make it alot easier. I accidentally stumbled across this person on a Facebook group and it has been a wonderful journey ever since till this day! I think that we are far beyond what we perceive ourselves as.We are greater and without spirituality, it is almost impossible for you to realise that greatness that lies within you, waiting patiently to be discovered and once you do, happiness becomes a sure thing for you. Thanks for reading guys. These are things that happened during the past week. The rest has just been schoolwork, loads and loads of it! Thank you all for the love and support you have been showing me despite how things are turning out to be, Layla sees it all and appreciates it. *All images from Unsplash.com* Lots and lots of love, Layla. 💓💓💓

@DocLayla

Clinging unto false hopes Hope is what maintain most of us, keeps us going despite the unfavorable and challenging circumstances we encounter in our day to day lives. We live in this world, all hoping for a better tomorrow that we seem to be certain will come....someday.. We hope, expect and sometimes pray for something better as we endure what we currently have. Sometimes we repeat affirmative mantras to ourselves as though we are trying to "decieve" ourselves, or are we? This is one of the reasons why people live their lives in fear because what I have come to realize over time is that (..might sound controversial to some of you), were there's hope, there's fear. As long as we truly hope for something, there's always a fear of not actualizing that object of hope, there's always the fear of that hope not coming into fruition. Think: Praying is also a form of hoping. Things as subtle as wishing for something are all forms of hoping. Have you ever discovered that(most times), when we pray for something and at the end of the day that thing doesn't become a reality we get disappointed?! A woman in an abusive relationship had her little dreams shattered when she realized that the man she fell in love with isn't what he portrayed himself as after all, but she still decides to remain in the relationship in the hope that he might change someday, with a fear in her heart that it might be futile while in reality, he might not really change. Does that mean that we shouldn't hope for the best in the face of bad situations? You pray for wealth, money after countless years of hustle and grinding. It gets to a point where if you're not careful, you become frustrated and when reaches that stage, you feel like your prayer is not being heard and then some of us might even begin to blame God.. because we raised our hopes too high. Again, does that mean we shouldn't pray to God? Does that mean we shouldn't hope for the best in bad situations? The thing about hope is that, it is a very needed tool of reassurance in surviving in a world like ours, otherwise we would all die off as a result of depression and anxiety. Hope keeps us going. That's why sometimes even when we know that we are doomed, we still look for someone to say "everything is going to be okay" when somewhere within our subconscious mind we know that everything is not going to be okay! Yet we feel happy when we here such reaffirmative words. Why? Because they spark a new beam of hope, it doesn't matter if it is false..or does it? There's a "dosage" of hope and reassurance that all of us need for survival, but what happens when we decide to abuse the drug? Disappointment Frustration Regret and much more.. Alot of us are scared, way too scared to face reality, to look it dead in the eye and say," I know this is you and I am ready to face you". We prefer to get drunk on false hopes with the full knowledge of what they are and what implications they might present, yet... Some of us can't just help it. Reality is something that we can't hide from, we can only run. Even if there's a way of escaping reality, I do not think there's a way of escaping the consequences of escaping reality. It is better to face it head on to avoid future regrettable repercussions... **The Issue Of Praying To God.** In a previous paragraph, I asked a question, does it mean we shouldn't pray to God? For those who believe in God, we all know that He encourages us to pray to Him. To seek solace in calling for his help in times of distress and even in times of ease. He encourages us to sing praises to Him. We pray, even when we know that the prayer might or might not be answered. He told us to have full faith in Him while praying Again, does this mean that we shouldn't pray to God? For me, prayer is more than just requesting things from God, and to be honest, it goes beyond that. When we pray, our hopes triple because we've prayed. We get our hopes so high that we expect God to instantly answer our prayers and we start seeing results instantly. Prayers is all about patience and keeping a calm face in distressing situations while placing all your hopes in God. This way your hopes aren't unrealistic and false. Even if at the end of the day you don't get what you prayed for, you still keep your cool, remain unfazed, because while not getting what you asked for, you've also been lifted a notch up in the art of patience. Should there be then, an absence of hope? Of course not. In fact where there's an, absence and of hope, there's no will to live. Keeping in mind that what we hope for isn't what always happens might help a little, but being able to minimise the things we hope for goes a long way. By reducing the things we want and desire, we are free. By focusing more on what we need rather than what we want, we reach a state where we become "hopeless". By being "hopeless", we'd still be okay if what we hope for happens or not. The world has its own rules , we can't control everything. Learning to be okay with whatever happens whether or not it suits us is a life skill we should all aspire to acquire. We should not be scared or embracing reality. We should embrace it with love and passion. Thanks for reading. Yours Layly, THE FIRST PHASE MBBS EXAMINATIONS ARE COMING UP SOON SO LAYLA HAD BEEN PREPARING WITH BALL SHE HAS GOT, HENCE THE INCREASING INACTIVITY. @DocLayla

Regrets.. Regret is a feeling of guilt and sometimes dejection that follows a wrong action, or an action that should have been taken but was not taken or an action that was not taken on time. Whatever you want to define regrets as, it is a good thing and but what happens when we get into the abyss of deep and depressive regret? Yes I believe such a thing exist. Sometimes we get overwhelmed when we find out that we have done something terribly wrong, and we get to a stage where we start to question our conscience, that too is a good thing but when it gets to a stage wherecwe get so involved and absorbed in regret that we fail to move forward and carry on with life, that's when there's a big problem. We often hear people after them emptying the contents of their hearts to us, meaning the deep regrets they carry on their hearts and then they say, "that's something I will have to love with for the rest of my life". No bro! THAT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! But of course we don't just tell them that to their face. We acknowledge the situation and appreciate their confiding in us by telling us what it is they have deep regrets about. You know what it does? You know what happens when you decide to live with a past hurt or regret for the rest of your life? It blocks clarity. You get triggered by situations that shouldn't trigger you because they have something to do or are somehow related to that past regret you've refused to deal with. Regrets would never solve anything, it only helps you acknowledge your mistakes but after that, dwelling more in regrets and situations of "... Had I known earlier I should have..." only creates wishful thinking in your heart, making you wish you can time travel and turn things around, which is in fact a foolish fantasy because things like that do not happen in real life. I have seem situations where the person offended had already forgiven the offender and **moved** ***on*** with his life but the offender still feels regrets and it starts affecting his life. It makes me wonder, **"is this regret really as a result of mistakes? Wasn't it done intentionally and the guilty conscience is slowly eating the person alive?"** because I believe that as a human who recognise that it is only human for us to make mistakes, one needn't dwell on past mistakes and past hurt except or course it wasn't a mistake in the first place, unless it was done intentionally after we realize that what we did only hurt us in the long run and we can't just live with ourselves anymore even if the person we offended has already forgiven us(which sometimes result in deeper regret because we realise we hurt a good person who meant us no harm). Regrets are very good. In fact it is the first step towards changing our (bad) behaviors. If we feel regret and are really sorry for the wrong we did to someone it makes it much easier or us to change and get things right back on track. But just like all things, feelings and actions, there should be a limit. Positive or negative emotions should always be kept in moderation. That is where everything is right. That is the only place where all things are right. That is the place we ought to stay in for the rest of our lives. Self-love Self-love is one of the steps and probably the most important step towards acceptance. When we love ourselves and are aware and wary of things that go on within us which can be potentially harmful to our well-being when given the attention it seeks, then we can help keep things in check within our inner environment, balancing it with what's going on in our external environment. Acceptance of what's wrong or the wrong we have done to others as well as the wrong others have done to us is an aspect of self-love. So beautiful soul, love yourseld more, love others more and never stop letting go.. Thanks for reading. Yours Layly, ❤❤❤

Can money buy Love? 2 As in my last article, I discussed how selfish and materialistic the world have become to the extent where something as beautiful as love can be bought. I read through the insightful comments given on the article and I appreciate them all. So, before I we even talk about how we can reprogram our mind to see through these things, we ought to acknowledge the fact that money is gradually, if not already, taken over the whole world. We do things for money and then blatantly lie ourselves that it's for something else In the place I live, it is quite common for the parents of a deceased daughter to be offer anothee daughter to her widowed husband if he's rich. When you ask them why they did that they'll lie to themselves saying "he might be remembering his deceased wife when he sees her sister". In most cases they only do so just because he is rich and they want the money to keep flowing in. No other reason other than that! If the husband were poor I really don't think they would have even bothered giving him a second daughter. Alot of girls these days are only interested in money. They instantly fall in love with you once you are rich. They want a guy with a car, a house, lots of money and anything money can buy. I know it is inherent in our nature as women to get attracted to men who can provide and cater for our needs but when we make this the centre or foundation on which relationship is built, then we have ourselves a problem. This makes guys do unspeakable things to get money so that women will love them,leading to further rottenness of the society as a whole. How do we solve this? The truth is that we don't have to solve anything. We only try to solve things we do not have an answer to, but this is something whosw answer we know but we still choose to tell ourselves lies. The ability to give true love is a God given one and once we look deeper, we realise that money or materialistic wealth means nothing compared pure, true and unadulterated love. In extension, this article isn't just about how money and love. It is about money and life. Life is love and love is life. Living a loveless life gives no meaning to life at all so, it'd be very great if we separate and set the limits to which money can influence the decisions and actions we take or make, we should know ourselves and acknowledge the value God places on us, which is beyond all gold, silver, all materialistic substance, money. Thanks for reading. ❤❤❤

@DocLayla

Can money buy love? Oh yes I know, the title sounds to hackneyed or perhaps old fashioned but come to **honestly** think of it, can money **really** by love? What is love? I can't define what love is or more accurately, I am not in a position to explain what love is. If I am to try to do so I'd say: ***Love is something that can't be explained, yet it explains everything.*** That's my definition, I don't know what yours is. Aside that there are different type or kinds of love, love means different things for different people. For that reason almost everyone has their opinions of what true love should and shouldn't be. Some people believe that love is something that happens instantaneously, unexpected, like a sudden storm sweeping you off your feet. For the more "realistic" people, they believe that love has to have a reason. There has to be a reason to love a person. So before I get carried away, let me fixate on the topic, **can** **money** ***buy*** **love**? I don't know what your answer is but in my opinion, it can. **Hell** **yeah**! **It** **can**! Money can by love these days but just like I said, there are different types of love. People can love you for your money. That's still love although a different type. Love is never fake. The whole concept of "fake love" is all a hoax because love can never be replicated. Joining the word "fake" with love is a sin according to me. Once a person loves, then it's always true, whatever the reason might be. When people love you for your money, then there's a reason they love you, that is because you have money. Money is capable of creating love in our hearts because of the inherent love of money we have on our hearts, then we get attracted to people who have what we love. Love has to do with our ideal. What we do not have but wish we do, like loving a person for his personality. We love people with a certain personality because we wish we embody those personalities so we get attracted because they are our ideal. What I am pointing out is that the concept of love has changed alot and as civilisation progresses, the love of money is getting more and more ingrained in our hearts and minds, right into our soul. Then what is left? We do anything for it, we kill for it, we die for it, we worship it. What is that if not love? We also tend to do so for people who have money, especially if it is accompanied by power, we fall in love with them because of their money and power. Love has to do with the soul, but since the love of money is already ingrained in our soul, then we fall in love with it. Is there a way we can reprogram this, yes there is and I will, good willing, discuss it in my next article. Thank you for reading. Thank you very much guys. I keep apologising for my decreasing inactivity these days and I am disappointed that I do little or nothing about it this days. It is partially my fault I must admit. After receiving lectures and studying for countless hours, I get left with little or no energy to either write nor comment on other people's articles and I have no option than to crash on my bed. When I wake up the cycle continues and do it goes on and on. That's the kind of life I live now. 😭😭 I am still trying and will keep Trying my best. Thank you all for the unwavering support. Thank you to my readers, commenters, sponsors and up voters for the constant support. Love, Layla. ❤❤❤❤

@DocLayla

Intentions There's a verse in a hadeeth that goes: "***Actions are done by intentions, and every man has that which he has intended. For he whose migration was for carrying out the just cause of God and His prophet, then that's the reason for his migration, and for He whose migration was to achieve some worldly benefits, or to get a woman in marriage, then his migration was for that which he's migrated for".*** Intentions. Intention a force, embedded in the inner most core of the Will, that drives us towards doing the things we do. Except a person acts on his very impulsive instincts in which case he can be likened to an animal, then every other well thought, organised actions are as a result of the intention behind them. Even some impulsive actions when looked int in thoroughly, have some underlying intention as to why they are carried out. When we develop a strong intention to do something, like reading for example, it is just like you've done half of the work. When you get to the actual reading it is very likely that it would become much easier for you since it is something that has been in your mind for sometime, it could even trick the mind into believing that it isn't much of a task and you might even get motivated into getting it done with. My fellow students can relate very much to this. Intention is so strong and important in our daily lives that God said that: ***"If anyone of you intend to do a good deed and he or she ended up not doing it as a result of unforeseen circumstance, then he or she shall earn a reward equal to that of the good deed he or she had intended to do. If a person intends doing a bad deed and he or she doesn't at the end of the day, then he or she shall earn a reward for not committing the bad deed."*** Isn't our great God the Kindest and most Merciful God? That's how strong and important our intentions are in the things we do. The above verse is saying that you say, sight a beggar from afar and immediately develop the intention of given him some money when you get to him but upon arrival, you find out that you don't have some change or the money you thought you had wasn't there after all, you will get a reward for developing the intention of doing a good deed**. I repeat, isn't God wonderful?** Now let me ask you a question dear reader. Look into your life very well, your associations with people. Do you possess I'll-intentions towards them? You know for a person to possess ill-intentions towards a peeaon doesn't mean he acts rude towards them. An example is when a guy treats a girl very nicely, providing her with all the emotional (or financial) support she needs, not because he really cares but because he just wants to sleep with her. Such a person is already ill-intentioned from the start although he doesn't appear to be. Let's now say that when he finally gets fed up with doing everything for the girl without getting laid on return and then gets frustrated, he now attempts to rape her, now that's the buried intention coming out in the form of aggression, then he gets caught and taken to jail, ***no reward for fake good deeds from God, no reward of getting laid, and a soiled reputation. Even if he succeeded in raping her, that's his "reward" and it ended the moment he's done, but is that worth risking God's reward for?*** From the above example, you realize that the guy eventually becomes frustrated for always treatimg the girl right without getting laid in return. That's to say that no matter how you try to mask your true intentions, either good or bad, they only find a way of manifesting themselves. The mind is not a joke. From the little I understand about life, there are times we do things without intending to, like hurting a loved one without intending to. That's completely different. We make mistakes and that's fine. Only that we have to make sure not to slope again. I strongly believe that our intentions strongly influence our peace of mind. A person with good intentions has nothing to fear nor hide. A person with good intentions for himself and others is a happy person. In contrast to this, ill-intentioned people are always thinking for someway to execute their true plans without getting caught, disrupting their peace of mind in the process. They lie and lie their asses off until they have no option until they resort to their true colours, and then everyone sees them for what they really are. Closing thoughts As we can see, everything starts from the mind. The will. Our intentions. We should all try to cultivate good intentions in all we do. It will both save our and everyone else's time. Thansk for reading my lovely people of readcash. I'm sorry for not being active for the past five days. I had three tests and I really had to prepare for them beforehand. ***I had biochemistry test, blood physiology test and embryology test. I wrote well guys😅. Thank you all for the constant support.*** Yours Layly, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Matters that matter. ***Aimless wandering. Harphazard thoughts. Random feelings. A lack of direction. Devoid of purpose. Feelings of the world being against you.*** Meet my awesome sponsors. They are the embodiment of the word "wonderful". Have you ever felt been at that point in your life before or are you still in that point in your life? Alot of us get stuck in some or all of the states that were mentioned above. Do you always feel mentally exhausted? Stressed out easily with of without physical or mental exercise? Do you feel lack of energy often even when you haven't engaged yourself much? One of the things each and everyone of us has to know pertaining our life journey is to be able to clearly distinguish between the things that matter and those that do not. Due to how closed the average human heart is, not everyone gets the privilege to have a completely open heart which generates energy on its own, so we are left with a limited amount of energy, but again with thus limited amount, most of us still choose to spend most of it on the things that matter not, then we end up getting spent, even without any physical or mental effort. You get the idea? False hopes, lust, baseless desires, anger and even joy(pointless joy). All these are emotions that not only end up consuming our energy , but also our time, time that we could have easily spent in doing things that matter and add value to our lives. I am not saying that one should become a robot(even rusty has emotions haha) and give up all his emotions, aside the fact that that is simply impossible as long as you're human, that would not add any meaning to your life. Let's take anger for example, it is an emotion and a very strong one at that. We all know what people do in anger and later comeback to regret it in their hearts even if they don't come to apologise because of shame. Anger is an opportunity to grow, how? Whenever you feel anger, you have either of these two choices : **to yield to your anger and destroy a relationship that matters to you, or to not yield to it and let it pass as the fleeting emotion that it is.** Emotions are fleeting and they pass with time, even the strongest and probably the best emotion which is the very source of our existence, Love, passes with time if not cherished. So which would you rather choose as the rational being that you're : Giving up a relationship that matters to you or giving up to a fleeting emotion that comes to pass and therefore doesn't matter? Again, I am not saying that you should suppress your emotions. In fact, that could have a more devastating effect than letting them gain control over you at that moment. We should know that emotions are energy and as we all know, energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Suppressed emotions always come back, sometimes spontaneously, and could wreck more havoc than they would have if acted upon in the first time. Let them pass through you like the energy they are. Feel them burn through you. Feel them burn through your being and then, feel them pass like the fleeting emotions that they are. **That's how you let go. That's how you grow. That's how you have enough time to do things that matter to you right now and spend very little or not time dwelling in thoughts that would not move even a tiny rock. That's how you become a spiritual person.** I used emotions as the main example when talking about things that don't matter because that's the driving force of action and they still control our activities no matter how we claim to be rational. Even the most rational beings still apply emotions, albeit positive, to their thinking, but they are still emotions. Let me use myself as an example. As a medical student, it's only **rational** for me to concentrate on my studies because they matter alot to me and leave anything that serves as a distraction for me because it matters less, but is it only the rationality that's involved? No. There's also the **fear of failing**, which is a raw emotion. Fear is a very strong emotion isn't it? That's it. Emotions are always there even when we claim to be rational, although they might be underlying that we hardly notice them. So readers, when you feel that sudden urge to go scrolling on your Instagram feed watching videos that add little or no value to your life when you should be doing something completely different like learning that skill you swore to yourself that you'd learn this new year, when you feel that sudden urge to go clubbing instead of visiting that relative you haven't seen in a long time to strengthen the bond of family, whenever you start to worry that a person may not like you instead of hanging out with that person to know what amazing personality they are and could even change your life, ask yourself, is this really what I should do? Does it matter to me at this moment? I hope you guys do not think that I am against enjoyment. Nahh, in fact I love enjoyment like crazy because that matter too😂😂. Ask my friends. All I am saying is you shouldn't swap them for things that can't be delayed. As you start to pay more attention to things that matter, you even start deriving pleasure and enjoyment from them. I will also like to give special thanks to @Abubakar450 for the sponsorship and @Fexonice1 for the sponsorship renewal. Layla is grateful. I know my other friends renewed their sponsorship but due to my very busy school schedules these days, I couldn't see my notifs and mention them. But I still very much appreciate it. God bless you all. Thank you for reading. Yours Layly. ❤❤❤📖❤❤

Control and Choice. The desire to gain Control seems to be an innate characteristic in humans. We all have a desire, whether big or small, to have certain degree of control over something, or someone, that's why the human lust for power is insatiable. We want to gain more and more power so that we would be able to control more and more things, but do you think your love to gain control corresponds with the subservience or submissiveness of the subjects of control? That is a question we should all ask ourselves. My awesome sponsors. Check em out 😊 One of the reasons we live in heartbreak is that we seek external solutions to our problems rather than internal solutions. When we bear in mind that complaining about the bad weather will in no way change it is the beginning of wisdom. We have no power over people's conception of us then why should we bother? The fact that we get bothered when a person we love so much doesn't like us in return goes to show that that person has gained a certain control over us. Instead of us holding the keys to our control door, we willingly hand it to someone else without even knowing, then we get puppetted without us even realising it. We get our feelings hurt, our hearts broken, and our mind doubtful. In actuality when we complain and get depressed about heartbreak, we're the ones who mostly take part in breaking our own hearts. We don't control how people treat us, but we can 100% control how we react to how they treat us. This knowledge extends to things as simple and trivial as the change in weather, on a sunny day(which you wished it wasn't), instead of complaining about how sunny the day is or how you wished it to be a bit cooler, why not controlling how you react to it by looking for a solution on your own? Something like taking a cold bath or wearing a broad hat or carrying an umbrella to shield yourself from the scorching sun? If you cannot do any of these, complaining about how hot the day is will not in the least change anything about the weather, because you don't have that power. When we gain the almighty knowledge of knowing what is within our control and what is not, we gain a deep sense of the Self, the soul, and we can decide and differentiate for ourselves what is worth our time and energy and what is not. When we gain the clarity of things that are within and outside our control, we let things just be the way they want to be or leave them the way they are. In fact it reaches a point where we have no desire to change anything and may even come to start enjoying them just the way they are. We see them as a sort of experience which is in fact what they are. That's exactly where choice comes in. We now have the power to choose what is good for us and what is not(which we didn't have earlier due to wanting things to be the way we want them rather than just leaving them the way they are), we now have the power to control things that are **within** our control, while paying little attention to those outside our control. This is how we live a happy life. The clarity that comes with this knowledge can be overwhelming. You start seeing things for just what they are without feeling the need to believe anyone or to believe anything. It feels like you just developed extra eyes on your forehead. You feel more refreshed, more concerned about what is happening within you than what is happening around you, more loving, more compassionate, more considerate, wiser and happier. It's a new year already and let's kill the mindset of expecting that the year has something in stor for us. It has absolutely nothing in store for you. It is you who should have something in store for it. This new year 2022, focus on the things you can control and let go of the things you can. Don't let the unreciprocated feelings disturb you, just let them go. You've alot of love to give for those who're willing to accept it. Stop whining and complaining about your problems, in reality no one really gives a damn. If you can't solve them now, leave then till later, if they cannot be solved later just let them go! Life is to short to be spent on complaining about things you cannot change. Thanks for reading everyone. I wish each oand everyone of us a Happy New Year and may this blessed year of 2022 be a year of blessings, love and self - growth for us all. Yours Layly, ❤❤❤❤

Beyond right and wrong. What do you think is right? What do you think is wrong? What are your perceptions of right and wrong? What are the things that define whether something is right or wrong? Society? Religion, personal beliefs? intuition? Nature? As kids, we were told by our parents not to put our hands in fire. Sometimes they needn't even tell us not to. We realise that it is wrong when we put our hands playfully and immediately withdraw when we feel pain. This brings us to another very shocking reality we love in as adults. Just because something hurt us personally, does that mean it's wrong? Just because we experience blockages in our energy flow when hurt, challenged, put under stress or duress, does it automatically mean the causative factor is wrong and, we who feel the pain are right? We feel love towards a person, enjoy their company and all, but the time they say something we don't find cool or something that seems like an attach to the false self image we create for ourselves, our hearts suddenly close towards them. We feel like they've done something wrong and some of us may even direct that blocked energy from our hearts into their own hearts, causing the same blockage we had in our hearts by either insulting them, calling them names, or becoming overly dramatic. The truth is that we have no right to determine what is right or wrong through other people's action towards us, or through what we see in society. Of course, they are general natural laws that control human behaviour but in my opinion, these are only wrong so that a balance can be maintained in nature. When we close our hearts towards others or towards a certain group of people because we think that what they did or are doing is wrong, we are only closing our hearts to ourselves because the perception of a closed heart is limited to the perception of the mind, then we label things right or wrong not because they truly are, but because our belief do not agree with them. Thus makes us love in our mind rather than in the world and that's like defying your very reason for existence, which is to experience and appreciate life. Instead of enjoying the experiences life has to offer, you withdraw into your own shell, hurting yourself, fighting both yourself and reality and in such a fight, you will never win. You keep up hurting yourself over and over again until you start feeling that the whole world is against you and them you either get depressed, sick or anxious. You're always free to have your take on what's right and what's wrong both never you try to impose it on others. You will only become a self - absorbed, selfish and inconsiderate person. Even if you think a person is wrong. You have either of these choices: to discuss it with them or to let them find out on their own. Sometimes they tend to get more enlightened when they find it out on their own this way, it would be out of experience which as we will all agree, is the best teacher. Do my people, we should always bear this in mind. You're not your mind. You're not your emotions. You're not your thoughts. These are all things that accumulate through past experiences that create a rather false perception of yourself. What you see as right and wrong are just things that disagree with those voices in your head which most definitely has nothing to do with you. You're something more. You're supreme. You're that being that watches all these thoughts and emotions and that's what you should always do. Watch them and dissociate from them. You are here to enjoy life and you should always do so no matter what. You're only here for a small amount of time, make it worth it. Thanks for reading guys To all my readers, commenters, likers and sponsors thank you very much for all the support. Yours Layly. ❤❤❤

A "weekendy" Monday. Well in most cases, most of us don't always get prepared for Mondays are we? Well in my case, our unprepared mess for the Monday made it feel kind of uncomfortable. Mondays are one of the days I hate because of one thing: it disrupts my weekend peace with a new array of work to do, topics to cover and routines to follow. Today is a holiday but I still kind of hated it despite it not disrupting any of my rest. I was like "how come this hypocrite of a day decide to do the one thing I want.... resting?. Lol. Today being a public holiday, I woke up 10:00am. When I woke up I felt like I had committed a very heinous crime, sleeping up to 10 am on a Monday!!. You know, when you become too accustomed to a routine you actually feel uncomfortable when you skip it even for a day, even if you hate that thing you're doing. That's what adaptation is all about.. All my plates and the other utensils were left unwashed and I couldn't give a hoot about that. Aftwe sleeping to my heart's content, I woke up and off I went to Favor's room. There we chatted and ate breakfast. At about 12:00pm in the afternoon, I decided to go to the library to see if I could get something into my brain but that same brain was foggy enough to have forgotten that it is a public holiday and the library would be closed. As a person who mostly feels comfortable reading in the Library in my spot what other excuse do I need? I dumped my books, and headed again to my bed.... To sleep!!. I slept for another 5 hours and here we are!! Finally awake as an owl. God knows if I had the opportunity to get a paid job as guard tonight, I'd get paid twice due to my sense of duty lol. Well I could at least have a group discussion with my friends and then do some work in my own....and perhaps wash my utensils. 😭😭 Since most of the day went on like a weekend day, I will make sure it completes its weekendness. Yesterday I got some anime do I might as well watch them. The lengthiness isn't quite encouraging (more than 300 episodes!!). The name of the anime is **Bleach**. It's quite interesting though. Amines are something I got into recently, before I sues to view them as some childish stuff and viewed people who watch anime as overgrown babies but I am beginning to like them myself. There is more to the characters. Bleach seems like an interesting one as it keeps revealing the underlying powers of the main star, Kurosaki Ichigo with each episode. A layer is being taken off as you progress.. Being the only one in my room now(the rest are still on Christmas holidays) I can't afford to be lonely or bored. I must remain open to keep the energy flowing no matter what, never to close. I called my favourite room mate on phone today, and she said she'd be back before the week runs out. Can't wait for her to come back!! 😁😁 Hope y'all has a quite productive Monday unlike me? Thanks for reading guys. Yours Layly, ❤❤❤

Christmas on a Sunday morning. Waking up this morning, my brain couldn't help but recall all yesterday's events. It was just like it trying to remind me of something I forgot. Despite being in school yesterday was kinda lit🔥🔥. Nah I didn't go anywhere worth mentioning, I just had a good time seeing for myself how things went on at home on video call. I felt like I was there with them. I couldn't write yesterday as I had a very early night. All my friends are already home so I had no one to talk to or gossip with. I just read a little on my laptop then crashed. The next thing I heard was someone shaking me up, my friend Favor. Although she is my friend she isn't in the same hostel as me so we don't communicate often. Favor came into my room, shook me up and then stood me up on my feet and dragged me to to her room. Favor presented me with this. Oh my Favor!! Crazy friends with good hearts are definitely the best!!😂💕 She even chastised me for going somewhere else yesterday which was Christmas. She said she looked and looked for me and even tried calling my number but I was nowhere to be found. Actually there was a long power outage in the school yesterday because they were trying to correct a fault in the transformer so my phone was, shut down mimost of the morning. I only had my laptop on that I used to read in the morning. For my non-Nigerian friends the above food is pounder yam with egusi soup, A soup made from the grounded seeds of Citrus Lannatus, Pumpkin seeds can also be a great substitute for egusi soup. Afterwards, we had a wonderful morning and are still having one right now. We are playing chess at the moment and having been beaten twice, I decided to take a break to make a post about my morning events. I didn't wish you all a merry Christmas yesterday but I guess it's never too late to do so. Christmas is more than just a day, it extends up to a week I guess. So to all my readcash champs, Layla wishes you all a And a happy and prosperous new year in advance. Thanks for reading guys. I will also like to read about you all interesting adventures on Christmas day, where you went out to, what you ate, who you hanged out with and those special moments you all shared. I am very sure everyone has a story to tell about his/her Christmas. 😊 Yours Layly. ❤❤😊

Intelligence and wisdom. Ever wondered how two similar things can be so dissimilar? Quite a paradox! Our blood and body fluids physiology lecturer left us with a statement after his class, from then he ran off to his car and went home after complaining of rising temperature with aa splitting headache but not before wishing us a merry Christmas. He is a person who likes to tell stories about his school days when he was a medical students like we are. Today, he gave us a story about a guy who was in his class. The Guy was a very intelligent personality. You see in medschool, at least in ours, there's a distinct difference between the person who has more knowledge(which we call stuffs) and the person who passes exams. There are two things involved says the teacher, "one has to be intelligent and at the same time wise in order to succeed". Okay so to cut the long story short, this very brilliant guy in my teacher's class who seemed to be more knowledgeable than other people failed his first medical board exams which warranted his withdrawal. Wouldn't you be surprised if the person who is the most brilliant in the class fails the exams without any external factors like illness or absenteeism? Of course they were surprised. Later on they came to realise that although he was intelligent and read his books, he wasn't wise enough. By wise here I mean he skipped alot of lectures (probably due to him thinking that he already knows what's going to be taught), he missed attendances and this led to him not understanding his teachers. To succeed, one must know and understand his teachers, my predecessors have been ringing this in my ear ever since I came into medschool. You have to read but you also have to give the lecturer what he wants in exams. For example, my Cardiovascular System Lecturer is only interested in keywords, if he asks you a question and you end up writing long paragraphs without including those keywords he's looking for, you're doomed. You can write very little but provided those keywords are well represented, you're good. That's wisdom. The most intelligent person isn't always the best. Someone once said, "***Intelligence is your level of awareness of what's going on around you while wisdom is how you react to them".*** The above quote hit me like a bulldozer truck. I have come across many intelligent people in life but the way they behave or reacts sometimes makes me think that they were just putting up a show. The form of intelligence mostly represented by academic performances is crystalline, fluid intelligence has more to do with wisdom. In a world where it is imperative upon each and everyone to maintain our sanity at all cost, wisdom is very much required, knowing what to act upon, knowing what to ignore and knowing what to do, when you couple this with intelligence, you know what to do and how to do it. In this life, a person need not be intelligent to succeed. There are different levels of intelligence depending on the individuals involved. Very little can be done to develop a person's intelligence compared to how one can improve his wisdom. This is like a survival instinct. Intelligence gives you the ability to know things or gather information and how they are interrelated with one another. What then is wisdom? It is simply the ability you have to put your intelligence into profitable use and use those interrelations to better your own life. I believe that every wise person is intelligent but not every intelligent person is wise. For you to be wise, you have to be intelligent (not necessarily bookish intelligence) but the fact that you're intelligent (bookish intelligence included) doesn't necessarily mean you're wise. So people, let's work on both:Intelligence and wisdom to make the world a better place for us and those around us. Thanks for reading everyone.

@DocLayla

What you seek is seeking you. When we were kids, we had big dreams, dreams that were bigger than us (or maybe not!). Those dreams were created with pure innocence, with naivety, without any knowledge of the world we all will grow to face head on. As we grow older, our eyes get slowly opened, and we see that the world is simply not as we perceived it. This instills fear in our young hearts, strikes feelings of uncertainty and despair in our hearts, slowly, those feelings and child-like ambitions we once had start to fade slowly and we are force to face reality. **Reality**? What reality are we really talking about here? Is it the one that was viewed objectively or the one we were forced to create as a result of the fear we had in our hearts? Reality too is subjective, but one thing holds true for all reality, whether or not you created it or not: ***Everything in the world is interconnected. Which means that each and every action we take now has an event that would take place at a point in time... In space.*** The things we do affect us and those around us, directly or indirectly, with or without our knowledge, whether or not it favours them, whether or not they as a people are aware of it. In a world were many people run away from reality and instead of facing the world, they retreat into a shell or a world that only exists in their mind, which has no relevance to the outer world. The voices in their heads continuously create a never ending pattern of lies, half - truths and placebos, just so that we would feel better. As I said earlier, everything in the world is interconnected and by means of opposites or similarities, things work. We should always bear in mind that whatever we engage in right now also has an effect, by means of opposites or similarities, on us. Whenever you choose a path, you're not the only one partakes in the choosing, the path also chooses you that's by means of opposites. As for the seekers of Love, you should all know that the Love you seek is also seeking you and as long as you do not give up on your search, you shall meet... someday. Now let's go back to the first paragraph where we talk about childhood dreams. Imagine retaining those childhood dreams you had up to adulthood without letting the reality waver or deter you from your dream. That's exactly what we is called a real dream. Something unrealistic. Imagine retaining that drwm up to adulthood and work towards, acheiveinf it with similar enthusiasm you sued to speak about it when you were but a kid. Reality is what you make of it and everybody has theirs. The fact that it seems impossible from the Start doesn't mean it won't happen. Alot of us sometimes wish we were kids again then we'd be able to correct the wrongs we've done and start afresh again... Or maybe just do things differently to get different outcomes other than the one we are having now. The good news is YOU CAN BE A KID AGAIN. You don't have to have a small body to be a kid again. That childhood ambition, childhood happiness, that inner child in us that lies dormant can be always awakened if we put in the effort. You wished to be a pilot or doctor or lawyer when you were a kid and it didn't work out when you grew up and you felt destabilised? Why not take another path and pursue it with the same enthusiasm that former child would have put in if he had become a pilot? At the end, it doesn't matter what you become as long as you keep your head straight and do what you love. **As long as you keep seeking, what you seek is also seeking you.... And those who seek shall always find.** With this I'll like to say; You're always free to be a child again and recreate you're reality. Thanks for reading. I'd also like to give special thanks to @McYusuf and @jane for the sponsorships renewal. I am most grateful. To my readers, up voters, commenters and likers. I say a big thank you to you all. @DocLayla

On Christmas holidays. When it comes to preparing for Christmas, one can't just calm down sometimes, alot of things start going through a person's mind and you can't just point out how you'd make it perfect. Here is the truth: It doesn't have to be perfect for you to enjoy it. Christmas can be celebrated in a very simple way. It's something that happens every year so you can always take your time to do what you couldn't do now till the next year. Although most of the secondary and primary schools in the country have already embarked on the Christmas break, tertiary institutions are yet to do so and when they do, I don't even intend going home for the Christmas celebrations (despite the fact that I live in the same state I school in). I and my Christian friends who live in other states have decided to celebrate in school, in our own way! 😂 You see, the Christmas holiday is going to be very short lived and for this reason, those who live in very distant places will not be going to home for the celebrations even though they'll love to, so they have no option than to sit in school and what it go by, so I want to stay with them and we plan to organizs our own little party, invite our small circle of friends, have fun, praise the Lord and then get back to business lol. On Thursday or Friday we have planned to go to the market and buy things for the celebrations, or we might just go to a shopping mall or a cosy restaurant if things seem to stressful. Zero stress in life haha! Aside that, of the reasons I will just spend Christmas holidays in school is that I do not wanna go home now. Why? I don't really know but it does have something to do with the kids at home, these days I can literally give up anything just or maintain silence to calm my brain, heart, soul and mind. The kids at home won't allow me that. Another reason is that I intend using some of the days to cover some academic stuff since I am still left behind, going home will be a major distraction. Of the things I don't know and will never know how to do, studying at home is one of them. At home even if there's no distractions around me, I can always create on myself lol. So, Christmas isn't just about how much you spend on clothes, food, drinks and all. It is about love, compassion and togetherness. You don't have to kill yourself before you have a nice time celebrating Christmas. If you can't afford buying those expensive things you see your friends buying, it doesn't mean you're lesser than them and it doesn't mean that the way they celebrate Christmas is better than yours. Even if you have the means or money but have other plans for it, you don't have to spend it all during Christmas, remember, a new year comes with new responsibilities, new resolutions, new everything, the money you save up for next year can help you kick-start it on a good note. This is especially for those friends of mine planning to do detty December 😂. As the December dey detty, make sure your January clean lol. In my case, it's not like I and my friends do not have the means, but we are sacrificing it for a long - term goal. I am not saying we shouldn't spend on Christmas..I mean if you do not celebrate Christ's birthday in the best possible way,.. Whose birthday will you now celebrate? What I am simply saying is that Christmas celebrations go beyond spending and spending. The main thing is the love there's. Something as simple as giving out little gifts to your friends and family can be enough, just like the magi did for baby Jesus. Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year in addy! Thanks for reading. I would like to extend my profound thanks to @foryoubtc09 for renewing the sponsorship. I am most grateful. Yours Layly. ♥♥♥♥

@DocLayla

A weekful of..... Apart from the fact that it's been a busy past week and a potentially busy week full of lectures, dissections, group discussions, assignments, projects, tests, stipple chases and of course....tiredness, last week had also been busy because I had to go start helping out my sisters who just got admission into the same university as mine with some work. We had to parade around the school together making me quit some of my scheduled plans just to get a hostel. This season isn't a very favourable one when it came to accommodation, both for guys and ladies. The matron in the hostel seemed to be a very annoying person because she keeps telling us to come back for the, part three weeks and tell at us whenever we come back and complain that we do not appreciate her efforts as students. Such a whiny old woman! She keeps making all sorts of excuses to escape attending to students who came to collect the hostel form. My main concern was for them to just procure a bed space because I can't squat them with the number of people (both room owners and squatters) already in our room. I was happy today when they finally reported to me that they've gotten a hostel. I was in the Gross Anatomy lectures when I received a call from one of them and I thank God they were smart enough to have immediately proceeded with the payments if not once the spaces are full and you haven't paid, even if you got the hostel form, you'll have to find a place off campus..... or in the mosque!! (which is now even full) 😏. I got my hostel with very minimum stress because I am a returning student. Freshers are the ones who usually encounter this kind of problems, and in this academic session, the problems doubled or even tripled because they combined students from last year and this year that's like combining two sessions together!! so you can imagine. I do not blame them though, it was due to the lock down that happened due to the pandemic a year ago, which made us loose a whole academic year, thereby disrupting the circular of the school. Aside that fact, alot of students seemed to have passed the entrance exams making the rate of admission almost double, so they decided to admit only 60% from each session to avoid overcrowding. Can you imagine that in a department you can find up to 300-400 students? Don't you find that outrageous!!. My sisters also got admitted into medical school and according to her, they are up to three hundred and something in their class. Guess what that means for them? When it comes to exams, they will try to at least half their numbers which means they will try as much as possible to withdraw alot of students to maintain balance, same goes for other departments I guess, but the condition in which the freshers are receiving lectures isn't very encouraging. Freshers are not been taken serious up to now because the school is still giving admission, and we are right into the sixth week of resumption so you can imagine! Exams(for them) starts in about 10-13 weeks time so in order for my sisters to meet up, I had to sacrifice some of my own time to teach them some physics, chemistry, mathematics so that they won't be left behind. Now that they are in the hostel, I feel so happy because we can meet at will, unlike when we were still roaming about in search for a hostel and at that time they had to be going home after every single lecture day, our home isn't near the school, the distance is quite great. Generally things seem to be going slowly in school this session, not only for freshers, but also for returning students. We have 14 weeks for the first phase to finish but we haven't still covered reasonable ground. We have to study on our own in fprm of group readings, presentations and the likes. Just reading something you haven't been taught alone can be mentally draining. There're also news going round that ASUU is about to embark on a nationwide strike (to my non-Nigerian friends, ASUU is an acronym for the Universities governing body) but I don't know if that's true. If that is to happen then I guess we're doomed. I've had some good news here and there but one can't be too sure, these people can do almost anything are good at surprising (shocking) us so whatever the case maybe I guess we all just have to watch and see. Thank you for reading my rants today guys and I am very sorry for not visiting your articles. You can see how I have to shoulder other people's burden as well as mine. Anyway it's just for the time being. Once they catch up, they'll be fine on their own. I also want to extend sincere thanks to my latest sponsor @ErdoV I am very grateful for the sponsorship. Same thanks go to all those who've been supporting me ever since my day one on read cash. Thanks guys and God bless you all.... **And hey! Merry Christmas in advance to you all!🎁😄😄** Yours Layly, ❤❤❤♥

Heads you live! Tails you die! - The final part. The grief in my heart made me so weak that I couldn't even attend the funeral of my mother. It was in my heart and penetrated my soul. The mystery of the hat and the death of my mother just kept creating chaotic commotion in my heart. It made me weak, it made me dead inside. I vowed to myself that if the hat had anything to do with my mother's death, that I'd kill the Angel of Death. Doesn't that sound crazy to you dear reader? I was quite sure that it had everything to do with it, only that I don't know how it affected it. **Then came the hat...** Right into my bedroom, it came and rested it's brim on my lap and I just sat in my room all teary-eyed, looking at it with an expression I could imagine as irritating. **I immediately fell asleep..** It must have been induced by the hat but I fell asleep immediately, then I had a troubling dream that cleared the air but also made me more certain of my theories. The Angel of Death stood before me this time with a green robe. Surprisingly I found out that I was holding the hat in my dream. I also felt like I carried the heaviness I was having in reality into the dream. I knelt before him and, he in a thundering voice said. "This hat you're holding is not only a gift to you but to all humanity..." **What**? Did I just here this dude or angel or whatever he think he is call something that killed my mother a gift?.... like seriously???? He continued ".... Mankind are very ungrateful and reckless creatures, people behave and do evil things neglecting the fact that they will someday return to their Lord, God the most high, so you've been chosen to remind people of their death as a gift from God. You shall see the hat on those whose souls have been marked for the journey of the hereafter, so that you serve as a messenger to then before their end is near ". **It all made sense now..** ".. But you had to start with my mother?" I asked suddenly infuriated, I felt cheated." you had to start with the mother of someone who is supposed to be a so-called messenger? ". " It was an order from God, He did so so that you might feel all the pain you have to feel now, so that you might not feel any pain in the future and avoid all distractions in carrying out your work," He said. This infuriated me the more, at that point I didn't care if he was an angel, I reached out to him with the whole length of my body, hunching forward to grab and kill him..I ended up landing on the floor of my bed and I woke up.! **The hat was still in front of me!** A wave of irritation suddenly swept over me and I flung the hat to the far end of my room. Under it was a note upon which was inscribed: **"Your mother is in heaven, greive not and carry out the will of thy Lord".** Somehow it made me remember the story of prophet Jonah, the runaway prophet. It made me remember how prophet Jonah disobeyed God's will by refusing to go to the people he was sent to in the first place. If that was what God wants, I might as well do my duty without fail. I wiped away my tears, prayed to God for direction and set out to the streets to get some air. I was thinking deeply about what the Angel told me about the mess humans are in, I found out he was right and I thought humans really need something like this, turned out I was influenced by sorrow and grief when I did all that in the dream. God is surely a merciful God and He doesn't want anybody to go to hell. I was feeling refreshed and suddenly felt very hungry, I turned to the food store, which wasn't very far away from me at that time, looking up, just as was about to buy food, I saw the black hat on the food vendor's head..... **The end.** ***Thanks for reading guys, I hope you enjoyed this story 😂. I actually fought with myself to finish it today and I guess I succeeded..*** If you are just reading the story you can get previous episodes in the link below. Heads you live! Heads you live! Tails you die! 3 ***Hello everyone it's Layla again! I am finally back after almost a week's absenteeism. Schoolwork hasn't been very friendly with me off late and I saw myself lagging behind, so I decided to dedicate a week to meet up with what's required of me at that time.*** ***Well everyone how have you all been? Hope you've all been fine(can't really say same of myself loools😂), anyway glory be to God.*** ***Do you guys still remember the story with the title? I hope my absenteeism hasn't made y'all forgot about it, or made the suspense turn into disinterest😊. Here I am with another episodes. I am rounding it up in two more episodes God willing.*** My ever awesome and wonderful sponsors may the God Lord continue to bless you all. ******************************* The dream came again, only that this time around wasn't a dream... Or maybe it's a lucid dream, but the gift I dreamt I was been given in my last dream before the dream was interrupted came into manifestation in this dream. I felt my hands moving to open the box, more like a treasure box, only that I am not sure whether to call what I saw a treasure or not, of all things to be given as gift, I saw a hat!! A hat! More like a cowboy's hat only that it is black . A deep blackish colour that is almost supernatural. Immediately I saw the hat, I took it examine it with both hands(I knew better than to put it on my head). It looked pretty cool though. I sighed and dropped the hat on my bed, stood up and went to the toilet to have a leak. I came back to meet my mom cleaning my messed up room reeking of depression and instability. My mom has always been a freak for cleanliness, sweet mother. If it were me I'd remain in bothered by the state of my room, not because I don't eanna clean it, but because I haven't the presence of mind nor strength to do so... I was watching her as she proceeded from sweeping the room, to dressing the bed. I was smiling while I was watching all these for some reason I don't quite know. Just then, the thought of the strange hat fell on me. ***Where is it?!*** It wasn't on the bed... I looked up and found the hat, looking even more darker now, on the head of my mom! I was instantly agitated. *"Mom?!!, what's that hat doing on your head!". My mom looked up, startled with a clueless look on her face.* *"What hat are you talking about son? " she looked genuinely startled and clueless as to what I meant by that.* "It's on your head mom.. " she looked up but didn't seem to know what I am talking about. She made motion above her head to feel for a hat and **her hands went right through the hat!** I stood there with gaping mouths and wide eyes. I didn't know what to say..." okay son, you probably are tired, how about some rest?!, maybe you're just stressed out. You'll be fine when you rest a little", said my mum. "Don't mom! I just woke up from sleep! I do not need any rest. There's a hat on your head! A dark hat"... I stormed out of the room and out of the house to think and clear my head. What is happening? What's with the hat? Mom seem so honest about not knowing the hat was on her head. She was totally clueless as to what I was talking about. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? No! I am sure about that. That hat was real! As real as the sun at 12:00pm!. **.....or am I the only one to whom it's been made visible? Considering the fact that her hand went right through the hat when she tried to feel for it?** I had my answer now. That hat isn't ordinary. And one thing I bacame sure about.. ***Mommy didn't place that hat on her head... But did the hat place itselx on mother's head?*** That became what I needed to find out. I breathed a sigh of relief reassuring myself that I hadn't gone mad. At least I hoped so.. Walking briskly back home, I thought that perhaps I needed to see a therapist, if not for anything but just so that I am sure I haven't gone insane. I got home and opened the door, went straight to my room and there I saw... I saw it. I saw something that still disturbs my sleep till date. I saw something whose occurrence I still consider my fault till date..next to my bed was my mom, face down, with broom on one side, shoes on the other side, **there I saw my mother as dead as a wall...** ******************************* Thanks for reading guys, I hope you enjoyed this part. Watch put for the next and last part of the story heads you live! Tails you die!. + So I feel really ashamed to even apologise for not visiting your articles. I mean I have been giving too many excuses and I really thank you all for your understanding. So I decided to try my best to visit as many articles as time will permit me to today... 😊 Yours Layly, ❤❤❤❤

Heads you live! Tails you die! 2 He came again in the dram wearing a white robe this time. I don't know if he dressed in white just to make me feel better about seeing him or maybe he wanted me to think he was an angel, He appeared at that same spot where he tossed the coin only that he wasn't carrying coin this time around. I watched him closely and surprisingly unafraid. He looked deep into my eyes and said "what happened to you has never happened and I asked God about what your fate should be, since you neither lived nor died..." He cleared his throat and said "... The work of transmitting souls to the greater betting isn't such an easy task, and I am happy with my job the way it is so I don't need an assistant..." he paused again.." the rate at which people are dying is increasing and sadly, more than half of these people go to hell, only a quarter go to heaven.. ". Just when I was starting to wonder how this has anything to do with me, he added,"... You might think you are still alive when you wake up, but you're neither laocr nor dead at the moment, and you will start to feel some changes in yourself after sometimes. The Lord has given you a gift..." he presented a dark box from his robe and handed it to me..." open it", he said. This box wasn't dark after all but was wrapped in a dark cloth. It was a, shiny silver box when I unwrapped it and it was lockless. Just I was about to open it, I woke up! Startled, I raised myself to a siyging position on my bed sweating all over my face. I must have screamed when I work up but I can't really remember, I saw my mom standing in front of my room, looking at me intently. She came in without knocking and sat on my bed. "My son, you have been behaving very strangely recently, I have waited for you to tell me that's why I ignored initially. But it keeps getting worse and worse and I can't just take it any more, or don't you see that you're gradually losing weight?. What is the matter son?". Well if there's anything I want to do at that moment was to hug my mom really tight and that's exactly what I did. I was feeling cold and shivering as we stayed there for a while. She held me tight and when I began to speak, she hushed me up and said, I can tell her when I am ready. I went drifted back to sleep and woke up late in the morning feeling slightly better. The events that occur in the dreams now has room to flood my mind now that I was more settled. What was themeanjnf of this dream? How does it affect me? What was in that box? I fell into the depressive state I found myself in when I dreamt the first dream sooner that I expected. This is the right time to tell my mother about it at least I would have someone to talk to about what I have been going through. If this is the hell a pedoan goes through when he is regarded as a "living dead" then I think I'd be better of dead. The Angel of Death had said that it was a gift then it wouldn't be all that bad or so I thought... Mom was sitting outside the house when I went to meet her and yeah, I narrated everytbinf that happened since from the first dream up to the dream I had very recently. She has a very expressionless look in her face and I was scared for a, second that he did not believe me. She finally spoke, " I am no dream interpreter, but I think you're living beyond your time. You're a very special person and I believe God will not disappoint you". Whatever she meant by "living beyond my time I don't know and I don't care. I don't just seem to care about anything at that time. I already had a lot in my mind. Anyways I thanked her and stood up to leave. I could feel her stares on my back as I walked away. This was a woman who knows me more than anyone else and for the first time in my life, I felt like that was the first time no one understood me, my mother included. Her words were calming though, I too believe that God is in control. He is in control.... To be ***continued***... Thank you all for reading. I am sorry for not visiting your articles lately. I have been very busy with school work and it took me a lot to even post the second part of this story.. I felt I needed to write something on it just to keep it flowing. By God's grace I will get back to your articles and comments when I get more settled. Thanks for being with me despite my inconsistency these days and for being with me all through my journey here. I would also like to thank @Scotty17 and @Khing14 for the sponsorship renewal. I am very grateful. I know there are other people who must have renewed their sponsorship and I haven't mentioned. That's because I haven't been having much time to view go through each and every notification. In fact they even overwhelm me at times. All the same I say a big thank you to you all. You all are the best. **Medschool isn't easy at all. 😭😭** Yours Layly, 😍😍

Heads you live, Tails you die! For as long as I can remember, I have been an assistant to the Angel of Death. The last thing I remember before becoming the Angel of Death's sidekick was when I was sleeping one day and had a dream: *The whether was clear and I found myself in a beautiful garden, playing alone like a little kid with the ever blooming flowers. Suddenly it turned dark and the once beautiful garden and blooming flowers turned into a desert with thorns on the ground, the wind was raging and was threatening to blow me away. Just then, the grim reaper appeared to me in his dark robe and hood,, tossing a coin with his left hand while supporting himself with a staff. He calls my name:* *"It is time", he said. I wanted to speak but my mouth seemed tied, with an invisible rope. "It is time for the toss".. He completed. Toss for what I didn't know at the moment. He tossed the silver coin in his hand and it rested on its edge.* *"****Impossible****!* ***This has never happened before!" his voice thundered!*** *I then found myself speaking. I fell to his feet shivering with horror in my eyes. He then said.,"the coin I tossed is the coin of death, it determined whether you will live or die at the moment. Heads you live, Tails you die..but you...your toss rested on its edge..."* Just then I woke up with a start, panting as well as sweating all over like a sacrificial pig. My mind was racing and thumping like it would burst out of it's ribcage." what was that? ", I asked myself repeatedly without knowing what the answer is. I myself did not understand the dream well enough to explain it to someone. In fact all I could remember at the moment I was I felt my soul leaving my body at the time I was waking up. I felt that if I hadn't woken up at the time I did I would have died, like my waking up prevented me from dying. Could this be what theye mean when they talked about Near Death Experience? This thoughts kept ringing in my brain and echoing in my heart for two weeks. The dream gave me more of not so pleasant dreams which led to more and more sleepless nights. I started withdrawing from my friends and family. Of course the first person to notice this change in personality was my mom. She didn't really say it out loud but the way, she had been staring at me ever since told me that, she must have noticed and after all she is my mom. I don't know if she were delaying her verbal enquiries for me to realize that we had to talk. Either way I kept my mouth shut. I myself didn't know what was happening to me. So how could I possibly it to my mom? After about two weeks, I started to regain myself. I felt no need to tell my mom any more since I was already feeling better. I started socialising more like I used to and whenever a friend asks me, "what's been the matter with you, you have been so withdrawn of late". Wow, most of them didn't even realize my withdrawal until I came back from my shell hmmm.. Thing where going quite smoothly until I came to sleep one night after a tired day at work. The day has been stressful and I would say I was rather angry when I came back because of my boss. I do not really know if that was what triggered the dream or whether it was that past dream that triggered a chain dream. I do not know till date. It suddenly became windy and dusty like a desert. Body paralysis came over me and I screamed and screamed without being heard.... ***To be continued..*** Thanks for reading.

@DocLayla

It had been left pending for sometkme and I just realised it now. Thanl you very much McYusuf for the sponsorship. I am very grateful 👍😃

@DocLayla

Yaay! I finally got a new lappy! Studying has really been a hectic task for me of late. My old laptop has a habit of repeatedly shutting down when I am in the middles or reading or studying { I 100% prefer hard copies to soft copies}. When writing an academic paper of anything, it just stops midway leaving me frustrated and clueless as to what to do. Due to my preference for studying with soft copies I decided to postpone any form of studying until I repair my old laptop. I took it to the repair shop and told me it was the motherboard that had a problem which means I will have to spend more money on repairing it, but you see, I am as broke as hell at the moment. My readcash account is currently zero due to very minimal engagement lately as a result of school pressure and even a scrawny beggar would laugh at my bank account if he were to see it. I had already accepted my fate and resorted to using a borrowed mobile phone{my phone got stolen three days ago} to study slides and pdfs albeit uncomfortably, I had no other opti0n. I JUST WANT TO SAY A BIG THANK YOU TO THESE ANGELS IN FORM OF SPONSORS, I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL TO YOU ALL. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU ALL What God cannot do surely does not exist, When I got back from my evening group study yesterday, I received a call from big bro. He must have intended it as a surprise because he had not informed me prior to the call, I thought he was actually joking when he said that and so I went out, still bearing in mind that it was one of his old pranks but alas! there it was! A brand new HP laptop! You know, despite the fact that I do appreciate the gift, I thought he should have just repair the other one. I do not like stressing my brother too much and I told him just that. He reminded me of the time he used to borrow the laptop for some person al stuff and it had been giving him problems too so he had had it mind long ago to buy me a new one. And to GOD, it just came at the right time! It is not just a new one but also an upgrade compared to the faulty one{ would have showed you if I had not taken it for repair}. It has a 1TB memory capacity which means more videos, more books and of course, more movies haha! What imma do right now is get my hard disk and transfer everything to my new machine! I ACTUALLY WROTE THIS WITH MY NEW LAPPY! Thank you all for reading guys and sorry for not visiting you all lately. School has not been easy and my phone was stolen. I would have visited you all even if I do not write anything. THanks for staying with me you all! LOTS AND LOTS OF LUUUURRV! YOURS LAYLY,

@DocLayla

Hardwork + prayer = success Hello everyone!!! I hope you all have been doing well. It's been a while and I really really miss you all. I wish I could spend more time to interact with you guys but things have been very very very burdensome and tiring and I haven't had much time to be with you all. It took me a lot of time and mental effort before I could incorporate my class timetable and my personal timetable to ensure that I at least manage to get things to move smoothly. Guess what? It has been going really well. I finally had everything figured out and I wish you continue my normal(or almost normal) readcash activities. The past two days had been a real shocker for me. First the MB results of our predecessor medical students were pasted and **I repeat... It was a real shocker!!** Out of 100 students who sat for the examinations, 30 were withdrawn from medical school and 20 of them failed one or two courses and are to resit and that will decide for them if they are to remain or quit. It came as a warning to us the juniors and at that moment I felt I wouldn't do anything but read, read and read till the day of exams, but I also know that wouldn't be possible. It is just something you think of when things like this happen. I felt motivated and demotivated at the same time! The most shocking thing is that some of the students who failed can't be labelled as unserious.... I mean they used to read and read and read but how come? That's what shocked me the most. I mean what if after reading and reading and reading a person does not still pass? I mean it is way better to fail due to your unseriousness than for you to fail due to some factor you know nothing about but are sure it has nothing to do with unseriousness because you read all through the session. It's surprising...ans that's where the prayer factor comes into play. You don't just read and read and read. You have to supplement it with prayers too and I mean lots and lots of prayers. You have combine hardwork and prayer to succeed and even if you don't, you feel more at peace with yourself and resign everything to God Almighty. I am not saying that all those who failed didn't pray, it could be due to a mistake they weren't aware of, it may be due to unseriousness and it may also be due to lack of prayer. Same goes for not only school but also outside school. In all fields of human endeavour, prayer plays a very vital role in the sense that it givrs you a feeling of repose and peace. That feeling of tranquillity you get when you bow your head down and lift your hands high up to the sky, resigning everything to God. That way you are never afraid of failure and you will always be ready for success, and if God has already destined you to fail, despite you praying to Him. You know that He has something bigger in store for you and your hopes remain high. But when you depend solely on your hardwork, you start doubting yourself when things go wrong and you start feeling like you aren't enough...if you aren't strong enough that might lead you to start having negative thoughts about yourself and as our thoughts manifest themselves eventually, it starts affecting your work and you start relenting and relenting, making failure a mainstay in your life. You might even feel like the whole world is against you when that isn't really the case. As for me, I have decided that I will keep doing my best both in studies and in prayers. The thing with our school is that you never know with them so there's really no option left than to keep reading and hoping and praying. Actually that's what have been keeping me off readcash for sometime and that's why I haven't been visiting all of y'all articles and comments . The world is changing, everything is changing so they tell us, so we just have to do our best to go with the flow. Thank you all for reading and I can't just express how grateful I am to you allm the journey has been really amazing with you guys. You guys have been really amazing!! I love you all. My sincere apologies for my absenteeism. Yours Layly, ❤❤❤

Three-day absenteeism on read. There are stages in a person's life where a person has to sacrifice a lot of things he or she loves to do just to meet a targeted goal. That targeted goal doesn't have to e mre important than those things he cut down on but it might be because those targeted goals require longer periods of dedication before being attained. Goals are goals irrespective of the time taken to achieve them, but any goal that takes more time to attain is really worth it. Sacrifices are required. There's always a price tag. Nothing good comes easy they say, these saying will never get clichéd. It forever holds true and it is something we should always bear it in mind when embarking on any journey that's worthwhile. That's just a random thought guys. These kind of thoughts flood my head from time to time. You can call me a philosopher who doesn't care to think about thoughts but one who just get these sorts of random thoughts from time to time. They are more of revelations ro inspirations. I think they spring from an activity that had taken place before and the reasons I took such decisions just came back to prove themselves uninvited. I have been a little bit withdrawn lately.. Not only from read.cash, but also noise. Cash, whatsapp, Facebook, and insta. Anything that has to do with the virtual world. I had log into read.cash but I haven't felt like reading any article, let alone up voting or commenting. I just peek in, see the background and get back out. Not only the virtual world but also in the real world. I can't pinpoint the reason why this is happening to me at this exact time but when I told my sister what I was going through, she said it was just a phase that will pass, probably a period of enlightenment but to be honest, I don't want it to pass. That doesn't mean that I don't want to talk to people anymore though, I mean that I feel more at peace these days, away from the world, its people and its troubles. I just get lost in my books and thoughts. It could be due to the total change in my everyday routine or the very necessary pressure I have been subjecting myself to these days: Air-tight schedules, scanty meals, fogs in the brain that happens to increase my state of awareness rather than block them, increased level of silence, increased everything except time to rest! I thought I was slowly drifting from behind an introvert to being a boring person. I am normally a quite interesting person but I snob people these days, or because I really want to but because I do not just know what to tell them. ***Hi? Hello? How have you been?... Okay them what?!*** My interest in extracurricular activities have also gone down really drastically. In an aim to revive it and as well see if I can talk to other people or at least try to socialize a little. I attended a seminar about sepsis awareness after morning lectures and it is still taking place. It is a quite interesting lecture where they talk about Sepsis: A condition in which an infection usually of bacterial origin, triggers a reaction througout the body leading to very serious complications and sometimes death. It is getting really interesting. The speakers are people filled with knowledge and wisdom om the subject, they even injected humor into the subject. I was supposed to speak to as a the PRO of BUMSA(Bayero University Medical Student Association) but I am very sure I would either stutter, stammer or bite my tongue repeatedly considering my mental state these days. So I assigned a fellow to represent me and decided to be an audience myself. Thanks for reading all through guys. And sorry for not being able to visit your articles and read your comments on my previous posts. I don't feel so good.. Not physically, but mentally. Love you all, ♥️😍 Yours Layly, 😘😘

@DocLayla

Gosh! I almost missed it! The pending notifications I accumulated through yesterday made it difficult to notice the sponsorship renewal from foryoubtc09. Thanks very much Sire. I am very grateful.🤗

@DocLayla

Tri-test. Date: Saturday November 20 Article no: Lost count.😅 I love to see my friends here starting their articles like in the above. I think it helps alot too especially the article number part as it can really help you keep track of your monthly, weekly or any time frame goals for article writing you set. I also intend to employ it into my own writings as from today but I'll will be using "lost count" instead of the number of articles. I've got a reason for that. You can ask in the comments section if you wanna know.😅 Good morning from this side guys. How are you all doing today? I am VERY sorry for not being active throughout yesterday and also for replying late to the comments on my precious article. I didn't write an article nor did I visit anyone's article yesterday. Infact I didn't log into read.cash throughout yesterday. Apologies please.🙁 Can you believe that we are already been tested? I mean it's just two weeks since we resumed but we've already started writing tests! and that was what made me totally inactive yesterday. The test was meant to assess our retention capacity. Questions from previous semesters and some questions from Neuroanatomy, a course we started only two weeks ago! So you see, I had to read really hard the night before and also into the morning. Despite the test I still didn't joke with my sleep and after the test, lectures continued right into 6pm. The test was scheduled to hold by 8:30am, and it was written at exactly that time as that was our consensus the day before. We made an agreement with him about when the test would hold and we all agreed with 8:30am. So the did what I call a **three** **in** **one test**. The test was not only about the academic aspect but also had something to do with the discipline is of the students. Unknown to us we thought that it only has to do with the academic aspect. Those who came after 8:30 lost some marks before even sitting for the test. And again those who didn't submit after thirty minutes (the time allocated) of writing the test also lost some marks! So the test took place in three steps: Before writing, during writing and after writing. Ridiculous ain't it? When challenged what he said was "we award you degrees not only on academic learning, but also in character, a person who cannot maintain discipline and follow instructions would not be a good graduate". Do you think he's right about that?😌 I really thank God that I passed the first and third stage of the tests and hopefully, the second stage as well. Jogging pics for the day. These pics were taken after my jogging exercise for today. You can still see the moon don't you? It is known that the moon usually comes out at night, and the sun during the day. Shinijg bright and proud! It makes me wonder if the moon is cheating the sun by "interfering" in the sun's affairs. But the moon is one very unique creation of God, expect anything from it. Thanks for reading guys! Time check: 7:13am The usual 8:00am lectures is 9:00am today being a Saturday! So I will have sometime to go through your articles as well as revise my previous notes before I go.😄 Thanks for reading guys and more precisely, thanks for your understanding. I am very grateful. To all my sponsors, upvoters, commenters and viewers I say a big THANK YOU to all. Take love.❤️❤️ Yours Layly, ❤️❤️❤️❤️

@DocLayla

Brain Disappointment Yesterday I got the right advice ever! I have been having trouble managing everything pertaining my school as well as personal life..Do I even have a personal life these days? I guess not everything has been incorporated into one thing:school life. As a person who performs best when she sleeps, I need a minimum of six to eight hours of sleep to be able to function like an average human. All that went away when school resumes and if I could get four hours of good sleep, then I have to thank God alot! Of course, I couldn't function properly. I end up NOT doing what I am supposed to do, the workload just do not match the time allocated to things. You spend almost half of the day in classes, have only four hours to study(which I can't do all at a time!), Four hours to sleep and then four hours to do other things aside study like cooking, washing, praying, going to the market and so on. Sometimes they even attempt to interfere in your personal time to create some other lectures.😑😑 Everyday I wake up feeling dissapointed in my brain(not me lol) for being tired and not so productive. I always sleep a little bit more than the time my alarm rings which means I step into time meant for other things. It's all crammed up! I personally met my Neuroanatomy Lecturer yesterday to talk to him so that he can suggest to me some time management skills. He is a very friendly person and he always helps students in anyway he can, whether it concerns school or not. He said that sleep is one of the many challenges faced in school and due to the workload, you can't have effective sleep in medschool, manage attending lectures, manage practicals and also manage studying with efficiency unless you make little compromises. In life you have to sacrifice Short term pleasures for long term acheivements. What he suggested I do was to have 10 to 20 minutes exercise daily, this way I let off some steam and manage to do well with little sleep. And yeah...it worked!!🙂 I jogged for 10 minutes around despite my tired muscles from yesterday at around 10:00 pm, went to bed, I woke up as early as 4:00am today, studied the preceding lecture notes for an hour, did my prayer, went jogging in the sport complex to let off steam, washed two pairs of clothes to let off more steam and then finally I took my bath. Refreshing! I have already finished some of the major tasks for the day before 8:00am which is for lectures. I cook once a day these days as there's very less time to do that. So I just cook alot in the morning and that will be for the whole day. Those photos you saw were taken during my jogging exercise. I first photo was taken when I was stepping out and the second when I was coming back. I intend doing that everyday so as not to miss a day. What did you learn here? Exercising can go a long way and is very important. It is like getting yourself tired for long term refreshment. The process of working your body dilates your blood vessels making more blood flow in and out of the heart, these way excess heat an gases are released and you feel cool afterwards. Try to exercise daily even if it's only for 5 minutes. Time check:7:33am. Time for lectures:8:00am. I have to go to class now as the lecturers do not allow any entry once they set foot in the class. Some even go in before 8:00am Just to send some people out!😑 Thanks for reading guys and...sorry for not being able to visit your articles yesterday. It just wasn't possible to do so even though I tried. I didn't even write yesterday do you can imagine. Thank you all for your continuous support. Take love.❤️🤗 Yours Layly, ❤️❤️❤️❤️.
