The head of local government, Claudia Sheinbaum, said on her Twitter account that the protocols were activated. It was perceived very strongly in the states of Chiapas, Puebla, Guerrero, Morelos, the State of Mexico and CDMX.
People took to the streets before the activation of the Seismic Alert; So far, no structural damage or injuries have been reported due to the significant seismic movement. However, there is a strong operation in Mexico City to carry out a more exhaustive evaluation.
David León, national coordinator of Civil Protection, said that so far no damage has been reported in priority infrastructures, such as hydroelectric plants or oil installations. Many people registered nervous breakdowns. There are also reports of people fainted from the shock generated by the movement, which felt very strong. Reports assure that the duration of the earthquake was approximately one minute.
