He was born in 1528 in Kalpi, Uttar Pradesh, India as Mahesh Das. According to folklore, the place is Tikwanpur on the banks of the Jamuna. His father Ganga Das and mother Anva Dabit. He is the third child of a Hindu Brahmin family. The family has a passion for poetry and literature since its inception.
He learned Hindi, Sanskrit and Persian. He became proficient in music and Braj poetry. He became very good at applying rhythm to music. He became famous for his poetry and songs. He worked as a Brahma poet in the Rajput court of Rebar Raja Ram Chandra. His condition passed when he married a daughter of a respectable and wealthy family. His financial situation was not very good before he worked in the Imperial Court.
The emperor of 156 sent him to the north-south of India (present-day Afghanistan). But this campaign failed miserably and Birbal died along with many soldiers in the attack of the rebel tribes. His death greatly distressed the emperor.
