It is not a secret that there is a huge number of homeless cats and dogs all over the world. Several causes contribute the overpopulation of stray animals: cats and dogs giving birth to multiple litter in a year on the streets, a lack of spaying or neutering, and irresponsible pet owners throwing their pets away on the streets.
How You can Help and Make a Difference:
Adopt from a shelter: Rather than purchasing a pet from a pet store or a breeder, consider adopting one. There are so many animals in shelters that need a forever home. Animal Shelters take in a lot of animals and by adopting one instead of buying, you’ll give more space for animals to be saved.
Give a donation to your local shelter Shelters need donations to keep running, you can donate food, litter, money, blankets and your old pet toys. Just a small donation can make a big change.
Put bowls of water outside your house. This small gesture can be very helpful for the homeless animals especially during the summer. Often strays feel overheated during the summer time and giving them access to clean can ease that.
Educate the People Around You. Many people around us are unaware of the severity of the stray animal overpopulation. Share the importance of taking care of the stray pet population in your area with your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
Report stay animals. If you see a stray animal that looks sick or too skinny or has a broken bone, call your local shelter and tell them the location of the animal.
There are plenty of easy ways you can help to decrease the homeless animals population in your area and you should definitely do your best to contribute to that.
