I think, teaching robotics is the quality of Science Education here in the Philippines. Many Filipino youths even some kids know how to program, create and design a robot which can help our society in the future. Some of them get an award in some competition outside our country. But there is something to improve, it is the support came from our government especially in financial, because we need it to improve the quality and performance of our fellow Filipinos in making robots.
Colonization has a big impact on Philippines' science and technological progress. Some countries colonized us thru internet to upload different tutorials about science and technology. It help us to gain more knowledge to improve our science and technology. They are not colonized us personally, but they are colonized us in a technical way. And for me, this way of colonization is a good thing for us. We can take it as a foundation for our chosen career. As I see, they don't have a bad intention on us, instead they want us to gain more knowledge in terms of science and technology.
MAJOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Promoted Digital Literacy
-I think promoting digital literacy here in Philippines is very helpful specially in terms of education. Because as of now, technology is everywhere and I know that in the future there are many innovations that will be created in terms of technology. This promotion can widen the digital knowledge of the students like me, it will prepare us from many technology innovations in the future. It can be our advantage and foundation to become successful in our chosen career path. So I really like this program.
Introduce mobile and web-based application technology
-Introducing mobile and web-based application technology in Philippines is actually an absolute program. Because it made us aware in technology innovations like mobile and web development. It can help the student like me to enhance the knowledge and skills to be prepared in our chosen path. It can also help people in earning money. Why? Because we have a team named Cyber Droid PH(CDPH) and some of our members earn money by freelancing. They develop applications for their clients. After they finished their work, they were paid by their clients.
So that, I would say that this program really helps our community.
I think the greatest enemy of science in the past is being lack of resources, Because at that time, there is no Internet. It is hard to access information that can help to support different studies about science. We can compare it in our situation now, but this time it is opposite of the past. Because now, there are too much information that we can access everywhere, but not all information are reliable. Some of them are fake, like vaccines for COVID-19 which is not approved by responsible institutions.
Philippines is still lagging behind our neighboring countries when it comes to Science and Technology Outputs, because some of the government officials here in our country are corrupt. There are lot of industries here that was connected in Science and Technology like robotics. Instead of supporting the projects and needs of our fellow Filipinos in robotics industry, some of government officials put the budget in their pocket which is the reason why our country couldn't get more opportunities.
I would say that I have a contribution in our team in making term paper, because as a member of the group, I assigned to research, to find, to analyze some resources to support our term paper. And I'm confident that our team worked well, because as a whole team, we decided to divide our group into 3 equal parts to research specific technology and I would say that everyone in the group worked cooperatively. As a result, we got a great performance.
