Many people wants to keep different exotic pets like snakes, gecko, tortoise, tarantula and etc. But some of them are really enjoying to keep tarantulas. And some of the tarantula keepers keeps Mexican Flame Knee Tarantula(Brachypelma Auratum). This tarantula closely like Mexican Red Knee(Brachypelma Hamorii/Smithi). They are look little closer but they have differences in terms of stripes and color. Both species have a vivid orange or red stripes on their knees but in the Brachypelma Auratum these stripes can see on the black background while in Mexican Red Knee these stripes can see on an orange or yellow background.
In addition, Brachypelma Auratum is generally much darker in appearance than Mexican Red Knee.
In the wild, this tarantula was endangered species. It can found in savannah and scrubland regions of Mexico. Scientists believe that this species of tarantula is endemic to the Guererro and Michoacán regions. The climate in Michoacan state is described as tropical savannah with the temperature between 16°C and 29°C.
Brachypelma Auratum is not a difficult tarantula to keep. It is an average-sized tarantula with a legspan reaching around 5" on average. Some older females can get closer to 6". Some recommend to use 10" x 8" enclosures for adults, and some smaller containers for juviniles. In keeping this tarantula, standard room temperature is totally unsuitable for them, but some form of artificial heating will be necessary. The easiest way is usually a reptile heat pad that can be placed under the enclosure/cage or attached to the side. Heating smaller tarantula cages can be more problematic. Soggy environment should be avoided for almost all tarantulas in captivity especially Brachypelma Auratum as it is attuned to drier environments.
In keeping tarantulas, feeders should always present, some keepers feed their tarantula a feeders like cockroaches, superworms and etc.
Brachypelma Auratum is one of the best exotic pets, so that we should keep them correctly.
