Cancer in pediatric age is rare but it is the second cause of mortality in the group of children between 5 and 15 years old, for every 100,000 children, between four and 40 may be suffering from cancer and that is 40% of the diseases pediatric oncology presents in the first five years of life.
Cancer in children is very different from cancer in an adult, childhood cancer is highly aggressive and needs more intensified treatments and doses, multi-chemotherapies (combinations of treatments) to be successful.
Leukemia, lymphomas and tumors of the central nervous system are the most common types of cancer in pediatric age.
It is no secret to anyone how difficult it is to live with this terrible disease and much more in a country where the economic situation is so difficult.
