Manchester City announced that they have reached an agreement with Sony to provide fans an opportunity to have the taste of watching games at the Etihad through an immersive metaverse setting.
Although COVID restrictions have prevented fans from enjoying going to games at the Stadium, this project will give chance to these fans to enjoy the benefits that the virtual stadium brings.
This project will break some of the barriers that have prevented Manchester City fans around the globe from experiencing the joy of attending a live game. With the construction of this virtual stadium, fans can watch live or recorded games.
Cointelegraph reports that City Football Group's chief marketing officer, Nuria Tarré explained some of the benefits that come with developing the first stadium in the metaverse.
She pointed out that this project will give fans the chance to watch game lives and participate in different ways. They can watch the game and replay it from different angles.
She pointed out another magnificent thing about the project is that due to the stadium being virtual, you can fill the stadium with an unlimited number of fans.
Sony's subsidiary, Hawk-Eye, provided the sport with specialized replay technology that has helped officials make in-game judgments in real-time. They have played a dedicated role in enhancing the game for officials and viewers.
Hawk-Eye will supply the visualization applications experts will use to recreate the dimension of the sports complex of Manchester City.
