After, in 2019, we saw the Jaguar I-Pace get the better of the other finalists, this year it is the Peugeot 208 that stands out in the “Car of The Year”. The Peugeot model for the B segment has undergone a significant evolution, not only in style but also in terms of the technological component, and stood out, right from the start, when it was presented, at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019. The “Car Of The Year ”, also known as COTY, is an award given annually by a jury composed of automotive journalists from all over Europe. The objective is to choose the best car for sale in the twelve months preceding the date on which the title is awarded, with no classes, segments or other subdivisions, with only one winner coming out of the vote. The victory of the French model confirms the previous signs: the Peugeot 208 was, most likely, the launch of the year 2019.With the victory of the Peugeot 208, the lion brand adds six victories and equals the French companion Renault. Each of them has won six victories since 1964. It is, however, the first time that Peugeot takes the best with a B-segment car, since the remaining five victories were with models of superior segments. Behind, and in that order were the Renault Clio, Ford Puma, Toyota Corolla and BMW 1 Series. All of them models that were among the seven finalists, found from a more comprehensive list of 30 candidates. The Peugeot 208 is available in Portugal from € 16 700 on version 1.2 PureTech 75 STT CVM5 and Like equipment level.
Historical Villages of Portugal seek means of protection and enhancement. Aldeias Históricas de Portugal - Associação de Desenvolvimento Turístico is surveying and characterizing the 12 villages in the network. The initiative, called “From Concept to Action: Definition of Base Requirements for the Enhancement of the 12 Historic Villages of Portugal”, aims to clearly define what a Historic Village of Portugal is, in order to determine the necessary mechanisms and requirements to its protection and valorisation. A central axis of this action intends to put the citizens and economic agents of Historical Villages to debate about the future of what they want their Village and the network to be. A team of technicians at the service of Aldeias Históricas de Portugal - Associação de Desenvolvimento Turístico is visiting the 12 Historic Villages of Portugal, to make this survey and collect contributions. This action, which takes place in the months of February and March, aims to receive from the population and economic agents of Historical Villages their knowledge about the urban transformation verified, their perception of what distinguishes and makes their village unique, the concerns and desires in relation to its development, and its proposals of what could be done to preserve, value and improve the quality of life in the Village. In addition to meetings with the different local actors in each Historical Village, the action also includes a set of debate directed to the communities of the Villages, in an informal spirit and of constructive dialogue. In the impossibility of being able to be present at the session in their Village, citizens can actively participate in sessions in other Villages. At the same time, citizens of Historical Villages are also invited to complete an online survey. Historical Villages of Portugal is a private, non-profit Association for the Development of Tourism. Created in 2007, it aims to promote the tourist development of the “Historical Villages of Portugal” network, which includes Almeida, Belmonte, Castelo Mendo, Castelo Novo, Castelo Rodrigo, Idanha-a-Velha, Linhares da Beira, Marialva, Monsanto, Piódão, Sortelha and Trancoso.
