Ampalaya,,, Do you like to plant an ampalaya? My father-in-law loves to plant ampalaya in his garden. Everytime we visit in the province we can harvest and cooked ampalaya for our mail. It can be enjoyed raw or cooked in various recipes ampalaya is rich in vitamin c, vitamin A and have cancer fighting properties but consuming high amounts can cause diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain. It is also not recomended for women who are pregnant. October-February is the ideal planting season because cool months favor more fertilized flowers thus better production. Two months after planting ampalaya you can start harvest. Fully developed and fruits are thick and green. It is good to harvest frequently with an interval of 2-4 days since ampalaya ripens easily. And its best to harvest especially in the morning..
