I've always been a fan of The Simpsons family, but if I ever knew that this kind of scenario back when it was aired was going to happen, I would definitely love them more!

It's difficult to imagine a world without "The Simpsons" and it's equally difficult to imagine one in which the show only predicted things that came true. But what if this was actually the case?

With 20 years of hindsight on our side, we now know that there are several occasions in which Matt Groening and his team accurately predicted events with uncanny accuracy. In these blog posts, we'll dissect four different instances where "The Simpsons" had already foreseen major historic moments before they occurred.

In March, episode co-writer Bill Oakley told The Hollywood Reporter that any parallels to coronavirus that the script seems to invite are totally accidental. “The Simpsons have just a few times predicted something,” he added. “It's mostly chance since the episodes are so old that history repeats itself,” says the author. The majority of these episodes are based on events that occurred in the 1960s, 1970s, or 1980s that we were aware of.”
