Focusing on the positive things does not mean that you don’t want to see reality or ignore the less pleasant situations in life. It means that you face the unpleasant more positively and productively. You focus on the best things that happen instead of the worst.
If you have a negative attitude, don't expect to become an optimist overnight. But with practice and time, your internal dialogue will contain less self-criticism and more self-acceptance.
When your state of mind is generally optimistic, you are better able to handle daily stress in a more constructive way.
