Congenital insensitivity to pain: a pain, or blessing?

0 8

And disease called congenital insensitivity to pain prevents a person from feeling physical discomfort. Affected people never experience any physical pain when harmed in any part of their bodies from birth.

With this condition, a person may distinguish between acute and dull, hot and cold sensations, but not, for instance, the burning sensation on their tongue from a hot beverage. The buildup of wounds, bruises, fractured bones, and other health problems that could go unnoticed is often caused by this lack of pain sensitivity.

A person with this illness has to be safeguarded and always kept under strict observation, mainly if they are a small kid. Because they cannot sense or feel pain. As a result, they are always in danger of harm. I've read cases where a youngster almost perished from burns because they were unaware of the pains.

Unlike other individuals, they are not capable of sensing pain. For them, a regular person's pains are meaningless. They could get serious cuts, bruises, and other harmful wounds yet feel nothing. In other words, they are unable to experience any bodily discomfort. They could feel the strain, say maybe they dipped their hands into extremely hot water. However, since they do not think of any physical pain, they do not pay attention to it or read the meaning of it.

People with congenital insensitivity to pain often have shorter life expectancies as a result of these recurrent traumas. Congenital insensitivity to pain is a hereditary genetic disorder caused by a gene mutation.

You would believe that not being able to feel any sort of physical pain is a blessing. No sobs, no narcotics, and no lingering pains. However, this condition is really risky. Pain lets you know when you need to get out of a situation, and when something is wrong. You know you need medical assistance if you accidentally cut your hands or trip on a piece of glass. What if you never experienced it? In dire circumstances, this outcome may be scary.

People with this condition are only numb to physical pains. But, just like every other people, they experience emotional pains.

What do you think? Congenital insensitivity to pain, a curse or blessing?
