The Harshacharita of Banabhatta

Banabhatta had composed biography Harshacharita based Harshavardhana. It is Prashasti eulogy. That means, Harsha has only been praised here. Bana has also discussed the history of the Pushyabhuti kings. In praising Harsha, Bana had depicted his opponents shabbily. For instance, much attempt has been made to portray King Shashanka in poor light. Harshacharita ends with the description of the incident where Harshava drhana brings back his sister Rajyashri. Harshacharita, in reality is a partial biography. However it is difficult to acknowledge the merit of the work since it only describes the virtues of Harsha.
