Two Inscriptions have been found in Nashik, Maharashtra. One belongs to the 18th regnal year of Gautamiputra Satakarni. Another inscription to the 24th year of his rule, when he had restored the last glory of the Satavahanas by destroying the Shakas. It seems that he established his control over the Nashik region. This is borne out by coins. He had conquered the entire Deccan between the wear and East coast. Despite being successful against Shaka-Kshatrapa Nahapana, Gautamiputra Satakarni was defeated by Shaka king Chashtana of the Kardamaka dynasty.
