Bhimbetka-the place of historical facts

Adjacent to the Vindhya Mountains, at a little distance from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, there is a desolate forest. In that area in 1957. a number of caves were discovered in Bhimbetka. Primitive man started living in these caves from the days of the Old Stone Age. Their paintings have been found on the wall of caves: Mostly all are hunting scenes. There are paintings of different kinds of animals. Images of birds, fish, squirrels etc. are found. In these paintings man is found to hunt alone or in a group.Some of them are found to wear masks on their faces and jewels.Many a times, dogs are seen accompanying the men. Though yellow and green colours have been used in these paintings, the use of white and red is pronounced.
