Pyramid Of Lies
Hello guys, I'm here again.
Many of you Nigerians must have heard of the mega pyramid of rice that was launched yesterday in the National Capital, FCT Abuja by the President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ever since August 2019, the price of rice has been rising constantly when the Federal Government closed the Seme border between Nigeria and Benin Republic. They claimed it was to strengthen the agricultural sector in the country and reduce the amount of things smuggled into the nation especially rice.
At the launching of the rice pyramids on Tuesday, the president said that the measures taken will aid the effort to reduce the price of a bag of rice.
He said that;
"The significance of today’s occasion can be better understood by looking at the various economic strides the administration has achieved through agriculture,".
This event has caused mixed reactions among Nigerians and even caught the attention of rival party, The People's Democratic Party (PDP) who has mocked the President and his party members from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for trying to stage another pointless and shameless publicity stunt in other to deceive Nigerians once again ahead of the upcoming 2023 presidential elections.
Just hours after the President commissioned the launch of the pyramid of rice, the publicity secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba stated that Nigerians are aware of how the APC and its government “create” fake pyramids of rice with sandbags and re-bagged rice stacked on pyramid shaped wooden structures as busted in an APC-controlled state in the Southwest in 2018.
"If indeed, there is a boost in local production of rice as the APC wants Nigerians to believe, how come the price of rice has not come down but continues to soar from about ₦8,000 per bag which the PDP handed over to the APC in 2015 to about ₦30,000 per bag today?"
He also added that the APC's high level of incompetence and corruption has destroyed the progress made by the PDP on the Agricultural sector which has resulted to the ever increasing high cost of food in the country.
Let us not forget the APC was also unable to protect farmers in the northern states especially in Borno State where over 40 farmers were either killed or deformed by terrorist groups.
After all the promises of change made at the beginning of Buhari's tenure all we can see around us is that things are only changing for the worse. Now with the next presidential elections is sight, they have started to campaign desperately and spread rumours of a progressive country when it is all a lie.
What the president commissioned on Tuesday 18th January, 2022 was not just a pyramid of rice but also a pyramid of lies built from the day he ruled the nation.
Hopefully, Nigerians can see through this deceit and make the right decision when the time comes next year.
If we are lucky, PDP will take over the country again and we will at least see some real change.
