Unity in times of Peace and War.

When we talk about unity, it is encompassing which is why every family, community, country and even the entire world seeks nothing but unity even in times of war. The pertinent question to ask to every one of us is; can there be unity in times of war? This is a question that we must try and find answers to because unity cannot be played with at all times. If you have been listening to the news although most times we do not hear all the news because of the censorship you will understand that the world is bedevilled by stories of war, chaos, deaths and every form of fearful tales that threatens peace and unity of our existence as humans on earth. It has become very imperative for us all to start talking about our unity in the world because with what is happening right now in the world, we may not have the required peace which will enable us to achieve the desired progress that the world needs. It is a well-known fact that without peace in the house or country there won’t be developmental strides therefore I want to look at Unity in Times of Peace and War.

To do justice to the title of this article let us look at the three words that make up the topic which is Unity, Peace and War.

UNITY

The word unity is so important in the life of every man and woman most especially if one wants to enjoy true peace and progress in life. Looking at the title of this article you will understand that the word Unity has been made very important in this article. For a better understanding, let me bring forward the question I asked above. Can there be unity in times of war? The reason for this question is for us to have an in-depth look at unity and its existence in times of war and peace. Someone will be wondering if there can be unity in times of war. Well, if you understand the role of unity in the house and our various communities, you will see that the only reason why a husband and wife will be in a heated argument or fight and yet once they notice that an outsider has come to their house with the intentions of war, you will see how they will set aside their differences and unite to fight this common enemy.

Let me give you more instance of what happened to the world in the year 2020 when coronavirus attacked the peace and threatened the existence of human life in the world. You will bear witness to the fact that before the coming of coronavirus the world was having pockets of wars and chaos here and there but at the sighting of coronavirus, every world leader set aside their differences and united to fight the one enemy that was threatening their existence. Why was it possible for that to happen? This happened because the world understood that without unity, the enemy will find it very easy to destroy them in no distant time. This act of coming together to fight an enemy has been on since the inception of man. Remember the world war how the world powers can together to fight a perceived enemy that was threatening the existence of human life. Unity as we all can see is something that cannot be played with even when it seems like there is no room for it. For you to win every war that comes to you as an individual, community or country, you must make sure that the unity you share with others does not wither especially in times of war and chaos.

PEACE AND WAR

These words can be seen as opposite to each other because the two cannot exist in the same place and at the same time. It is just like saying that fire and water can exist at the same time and in the same place. Now, how well do you understand that there is just a thin line between peace and war? Most times we forget that what causes war is just the little things we neglect especially when it is expected of us not to neglect them. In the family, we see how husbands and wives who have been in love and have been caring for each other will wake up one morning and start talking about divorce. Most times it sounds like a fairy tale to those who knew and saw when they were very much in love. It should not surprise you when you see or hear such a thing because wherever you see peace, just know that there is war lurking behind that peace but all you need to do is to make sure that you don’t give that war the chance to rare its ugly head.

Sometimes we forget that maintaining peace is very costly which is why most times we see ourselves taking peace for granted. You cannot underestimate the importance of peace in the life of a family, community or even a country. Without peace, there won’t be progress and development in any family or country. I describe peace as the engine that propels developmental strides in every community. Do not think that you can play with the peace of your family or community because you may do so and not get that desired peace back again.

Take a look at places where peace has left; Libya, Myanmar, Sudan and a whole lot of other countries. It may interest you to know that these countries at some point in their existence were enjoying great peace and development until they removed their eyes from that which was keeping them in peace. Even those in the military will not easily subscribe to war no matter how bad the situation gets. This is because they understand that war only breeds destruction and nothing more but it is so painful when youths of nowadays clamour for war as if they do not understand that once peace has been replaced with war, there will never be a progress of any kind and this will affect everything in their community.

CONCLUSION

If you do not understand the importance of peace and why you should try as much as possible to uphold it, then go and look at the countries I mentioned above most especially Libya. After looking at the state of Libya now you will understand better why you must hold peace in high esteem and avoid anything that might bring war. Don’t ever think you will go through the path of war and remain the same. Remember that to build something is always hard but destruction can come as fast as you can imagine therefore do not allow or give war a chance rather give peace a chance in all that you do.
