The Hustlers Creed
Deal-making demands that you can cooperate with others who possess more authority and resources than you.
Networking is good.
How can you get favor with those who possess more of it than you? Having a track record is referred to as "knowing your stuff" in the business world. If you are a beginner, offering me general marketing advice is significantly less beneficial than telling me how you can save $10 a month on an Adwords subscription. Everyone is aware of your lack of subject matter expertise.
It's the era of the internet, baby. Show me the evidence if you believe something works or is valuable. Someone who can demonstrate SEO outcomes may bill 5 times as much as someone with "SEO expertise."
Hustlers assume full accountability for every single person and object in their networks.
People want to know you have outstanding integrity before they trust you with significant transactions or collaborations. That indicates that you speak too much. You only ask people for assistance when it is people's time. When anything goes wrong, you investigate the cause, address the issue, and accept responsibility for what went wrong. You'll also assume full emotional accountability for every agreement you make; you won't ever shift that duty to anybody else. With you, everything will go well.
Hustlers are a powerful force.
My go-to image for constructing a convincing offer is a ship poised to set sail on a potentially fruitful trip to a distant place. You are in command. You are on the docks dressed to the nines as the captain.
The ship is sailing away.
People lose out on something inevitable if they don't join you. For the individual choosing to participate, you have assumed all emotional danger. You've determined that the opportunity is worthwhile seizing. You are not awaiting comments, assistance, or endorsement. If you came, it would be fantastic. However, we are still departing.
Hustlers use plain language. They have compelling speeches. They are your voice.
Over-qualifying your claims lead to continuous patty-caking, brainstorming, and fake spitball sessions, particularly in a professional setting.
Make your claims regarding the future's course clear. You'll make it difficult for others to spend their time expressing their opinions. They will need to do well if they wish to contribute. When they do, they will be responding to specific plans. Their opinions will have an impact. Be specific while brainstorming: "Tell me what's wrong with x."
Hustlers link their behaviors to outcomes (but don't claim the glory).
Create success stories based on your activities. Take up the role of the shepherd. You are fast to infer potential ramifications. Based on everything we have observed so far, I can tell you that if you give me X, Y is very likely to occur.
Hustlers never request anything more complex than an affirmative.
You'll never need more than a yes when a signature, check, or purchase order is needed. Everything will be planned so that there are no glitches or doubts at the last minute. Your planning fosters confidence and shows that you've given it careful consideration, so your spouse can sign away and relax. When negotiating any form of agreement, keep this in mind. Could I get you a cup of coffee? I'll be at golden club restaurant at 8 p.m. tomorrow; care to join me?
Hustlers appear when horrible stuff occurs.
You report nasty crap when it occurs. even if you weren't at fault. Negative things are never swept under the rug. All the trust you have gained would be destroyed by the slightest indication of it. I once misplaced $1300 belonging to my employer. First thing in the morning, I quickly entered his office and informed him of the situation. I explained to him why it occurred, what went wrong, and what I planned to do to fix it. He never let me forget that story since it gave him confidence in me moving ahead.
If someone else is at blame, you must own your mistakes and make amends to that individual. The third party is not to a fault. Transferring responsibility or assigning blame is the same thing, and a dealmaker can never do that.
Hustlers send a bill.
Before having an invoicing strategy in place, do not count subscribers, comments, clicks, links, yells, shipment volume, or ANYTHING else. Period.
