Her words were as sharp as a two-edged sword that it pierced my soul and yet no one could see the scares.
In our society today, we have witnessed different kinds of abuses ranging from wife bartering, verbal abuse, child abuse, sexual abuse and all other forms of abuses. In all of this, society has been wounded in several ways and it has affected the way and manner we treat one another.
Let’s take a look at the family; a man gets so angry to the extent of beating his wife either with his physical hands or materials found around the house. A woman in her family abuses the husband by saying and calling him all sorts of heartbreaking words maybe because he was unable to meet up with providing finances in the house.
When a family strives on abuses either from the man or the woman, it flows directly into the children as they grow and this breeds a lot of misconception in their hearts which will make them to also live an abusive life in their families. They tend not to see anything wrong at abusing people either in the family or in their workplaces.
It is high time we started treating this contagious disease from the root cause. All hands must be on deck to help sanitize the society from this hydra-headed demon called abuse.
It is not just the work of the government rather it is a collective fight to put an end to this evil story of abuse.
When a woman, man or a child is abused their self-esteem is negatively damaged to the extent that it will affect their relationship with others. They may end up living a defensive life as a way of protecting themselves from having any emotional breakdown. As a husband or wife, always remember that the family is meant to breed and teach the children how to live a life of peace, unity, love and harmony.
Don’t take anything for granted when it comes to the safety of your children or wards because an abused child today is an abused society tomorrow.
