Let me go straight into the business of the day.
Similarities
I would not want to go into defining the word because I believe that some other persons must have treated that in their article. For me to do justice to the word prompt in respect to what I have in mind, I will approach the word in two ways. First I will look at the word as a term in Biology and then I will also look at it as it affects our existence as humans.
Similarities and Biology
For a child to be born there must be intercourse which will happen between two opposite sex. This is not just particular to the birth of humans it is also seen in animals. Now, you will be wondering what the similarities would be. Looking at the way all animals including humans were created, you will agree with me that for conception to take place in both man and animals there must be direct or indirect intercourse between the male and the female. This is the very first similarity that stands out in biology.
Let us look at the organs of both man and animals.
· For a man to be alive there must be a heart that is healthy enough to pump the blood for all the other parts of the body to work. This is also seen in animals alike. There must be the presence of a heart for an animal to be alive.
· Just as we have lungs in man that is used for respiration, there is also the presence of lungs and gills in aquatic animals. Both the gills and lungs are used for respiration in animals.
· There is the presence of the liver and kidney in both man and animals alike.
· In both man and animals, the female species are known to be responsible for the pregnancy, childbearing or laying of eggs as the case may be.
· The same way we see the survival of the fittest in the animal world is the same way we see it in the world of man. We see how the mighty crush and trample upon the weak on daily basis.
I will end this here but that does not mean that there are no other similarities but for the sake of making sure that this article does not get too lengthy, I will head straight into similarities as it affects our existence as humans.
Similarities and how it affects Human Existence
Since the existence of humans on planet earth, there have been cases of chaos, rancour, wars, injustice, wickedness, nepotism, and racial discrimination. Each time I come across stories of racism one thing comes to mind and that is our inclination to the word Similarities. A man who is born black skinned walks into a coffee shop and immediately everyone stares as though an alien has walked in. This same thing happens when a white-skinned man commits an offence the police will remember that the law states that no one is guilty until proven guilty by a competent court of jurisdiction. The question is; how did we get to this place? The simple reason for this is because we have so much embraced our similarity as the only tool to knowing who a good man or woman is. In a country made of people from the different ethnic group and religious background, we will see marginalization on a higher scale. This marginalization is caused by the singular fact that those in the ruling class are not from the same religious or ethnic background as those who are being ruled.
There is a need for us to look at things differently when it comes to similarities in humans.
· He is black
· She is white
· He is a Hindu
· She is a Muslim
· He is a Christian
· He is a red Indian
· She is an African and so on.
When we begin to look at these similarities from the negative aspect, there will always be war, anarchy and chaos in our world. When the creator created us, He made us all unique in our various ways both in shape, colour, sizes and language. He did this because He wanted us to harness the uniqueness of each other for the betterment of our world but instead of us looking at this uniqueness with a sense of positivity we decided to introduce similarities in all that we do.
A lot of us have lost our golden opportunity in life just because we are not from the same tribe, religion or even speak the same language with the powers that be (i.e. not sharing the same similarity). The truth is that we all have our uniqueness as humans. Take a look at the weather condition as the creator made it. Those in the America, UK, Russia, China and Australia will witness a high level of cold in their region whereas the majority of those in the continent of Africa will witness extreme hotness. What does this tell us? This means that we can only exist when we appreciate the uniqueness in each other thereby given room for inter-relationship which will lead to harmony and peaceful coexistence. Let us stop looking at our similarities from the angle of negativity rather let us look at our uniqueness and see the gifts we all carry as individuals. As a black man/woman, what similarities do you have with a white man/woman?
