What makes you wake up early in the morning to prepare for the days job? Do you understand that it takes more than just a decision to be a good individual even when faced with the hardest of decisions to make? I would not want to bore you with too many questions because I believe that it will be more profitable for me to hit the nail on the head. There are basic things one must do in life to become successful and it is not just about doing those basic things rather it is about being consistent with those things. What propels consistency? This is the part I will love to advise you to completely read this article with a great deal of attention.
Let me start by answering the question; what propels consistency? Many a time we do things without understanding the basic fact or should I say principle that guides success. First, success does not come by chance rather it comes by a well calculated and executed move made by someone who wished to become successful. You cannot wake up one morning and expect to be successful without starting from somewhere. You must have heard people talk about the humble beginning, right? Most times we neglect that part of success and want to jump into success without having good work to show for it.
What am I saying in essence? You must be ready to start somewhere not minding how small because it is by valuing little things that the big ones come but the truth is that you have to have that key that opens every door of success. Mind you there are lots of keys to open the door of success but for me, I think the best key one can use to open the door of success any time any day is what I call the Key of Discipline.
I am quite aware that you have come across the word discipline either while reading a novel, newspaper or while watching the television. There is a great responsibility that is hinged on the word Discipline but the basic problem is that most times people do not understand this and it keeps driving success very far away from them.
Have you ever made a decision not to do something and you find out that you were unable to hold onto that decision you made? It is not about deciding to become great or successful in life rather it is about being ready to discipline yourself at all cost. At the beginning of every year, so many people will resolve the things they will either love to add to their way of life or shade off as the case may be. You and I will agree that 75% of these decisions and resolutions do not hold water not even for the first quarter of the year. This is because we do not have that key which is discipline. For one to achieve greatness in life you must have built a strong disciplinary measure on yourself which will serve as a driving force towards achieving success. It is not just about achieving greatness in life.
Discipline is that which will make you stand out among others and by the time people begin to notice that you are disciplined in your dealings, they will naturally come to you. This means that discipline is like a magnet that draws people to you even when you do not know. It does not only draw people to you, it will attract and open every door of success for you even with less effort. Having read through this article and understood what lies therein, I will like to ask you a very simple but mind bugging question. Are you disciplined?
The answer to this question is not far-fetched because as an individual you know yourself more than I do so it should be easy for you to evaluate yourself to ascertain your level of discipline. Let me stretch this a little, discipline is not just the key to success, it is the key to everything you do in life. Let us look at it from the angle of relationship? Why do you think a man or woman who is in a romantic relationship with another person dares to cheat on his/her partner? You may say it is because he/she had no true love for the partner but I want to let you know that for cheating to happen, it is nothing other than lack of discipline.
Love is not enough to make your partner not cheat on you and the earlier you understand this, the better for you. Don’t make the mistake of hinging that cheating behaviour on love. You must understand that for one to cheat, it starts from the heart. He must have thought of it for some time and if for any reason there was an atom of discipline in him, he would not allow the thought to manifest. Every one of us either married or single will always meet that person whose smile, looks or even character will send hot chills down our spine but what will always make the difference is discipline.
Develop your level of discipline in all that you do if you wish to become successful in it. It does not matter how long you have been doing it, what matters is that you have a great deal of discipline to that which you are doing. Let people know you for your level of discipline towards working for success and above all, you must try to be intentional about being disciplined.
