"He deserves to Die".

***“If he could do that to me, then I won’t hesitate to kill him if I have the chance. Let nobody tell me any shit about family, blood and love”.***

This was what he kept on repeating even as we were all trying to pacify him. All we were saying at that time was falling on a deaf ear and to make matters worse, he was swearing over his life that he would not stop until he takes **Kelvin’s** life. Although he understands the consequences of what he is planning to do, it was obvious that he has made up his mind to carry out his threat. I had no other option than to push Kelvin out of the house while this brother **Tony** was still in the tight grips of the rest of the guys who came as a result of Kelvin’s call for help. It was a day I will never forget. What I witnessed on that day is something I usually see in movies but I never imagined it will ever happen in reality. **How can a man pull a knife to stab his brother with who he has a blood connection?** This was the very question that has been rolling through my mind because I can’t imagine the level of hurt which can push a man into such an act that even nature abhors.

****Just a little clue**** Kelvin and Tony are two blood brothers whose parents died while they were still in their teens. Kelvin being the oldest took the responsibility of taking care of his younger brother Tony. He made sure Tony had the best of education his money can afford while he focused more on working and doing other menial jobs to support his brother. They were the best of friends so much so that you can see one without the other. This level of brotherly love endeared them to neighbours who became so fond of the boys that they were very ready to help them both with material things and parental advice. These two boys grew up to become successful as Tony who graduated from medical school got instant employment with a big private hospital in their community. His brother Kelvin had already made his way up to the ladder in the importation industry as he became the sole importer and distributor of a foreign pharmaceutical product.

Just as we all know, the devil does not feel good when peace and love exists. The problem started when  **Kelvin** the older brother brought the girl he wanted to marry to the house as a way of showing his wife to be to his younger brother **Tony**. Earlier that day when Kelvin called his brother Tony to inform him about bringing the girl home, Tony was filled with joy because he loved his brother so much that would give anything for him to find love and be happy. On that faithful day, **Tony** who has been the chef in the house-made every preparation and cooked everything necessary as a means to show solidarity to his beloved brother. Tony was in the kitchen when his brother Kelvin and the girl came into the house. His brother Kelvin who perceived the aroma that filled the air as soon as he worked in called out to his brother Tony to come to the sitting room.   Tony in all happiness rushed out and that was when it all turned sour. As Kelvin was introducing his brother who was already imagining what the only girl he has crushed on since his university days is doing in their house. It was obvious to Kelvin that something was not right with his brother but since they had a visitor, he decided not to ask him what the problem is. Tony welcomed Cynthia with a mixed feeling of joy and pain. He could not believe that the only girl he has been making plans on how to ask out on a date is now in their house as the brother’s girlfriend. Tony tried so much to suppress the feelings he has for Cynthia but each time he tries, it gets even worse. This continued until that ****black Wednesday****. Kelvin as usual had travelled overseas for a business meeting with his clients and was scheduled to spend two weeks there. Although he tried to take Cynthia along she was not able to make it due to her job.   That faithful day, Tony had stopped by on his way to have some drinks with some friends meanwhile Cynthia who at that time has become a full member of the house even though not by marriage but by the relationship with Kelvin visited the house. Tony came back home a bit tipsy and as he walked into the sitting room unaware of Cynthia’s presence, he stumbled upon a beautiful girl who was lying on the couch on her nightwear. Due to Tony’s tipsiness, he moved over to the couch and started touching Cynthia. Unknowingly to Tony, Cynthia has been drinking as a way to kill boredom but because she had more than enough, she was very much tipsy that she had to lie on the couch even as her nightwear was exposing her body. As Tony touched her, she could not fight him off because of her tipsiness and before they understood what was happening, they had already had sex in the sitting room. They both slept off since they were tipsy and needed to sleep. The next morning, they were woken up by Kelvin’s shout of disbelief out of seeing the two of them half-naked and on the couch sleeping. Kelvin shouted so bitterly and began to cry. As Tony and Cynthia woke up, they both could not explain how and what had happened but as they were still looking at each other in confusion, Kelvin rushed into the kitchen and came out with the knife. He headed straight to his brother Tony who out of fear started shouting for help and that was when their tenants rushed in. They were able to grab Kelvin and pin him on the ground while I pushed Tony out of the house. Cynthia who was still confused about what had happened was on the floor crying so bitterly.

****What would you do?**** The story you just read is nothing but **Fiction** which I wanted to use to drive home the point I want to make in this post today. Although I have witnessed such an event in my university days, which came to my mind this morning and I decided to bring it to us for deliberation. **What would you do if you are Kelvin?**  I would want you to go through the story again in other to understand how it all happened. **Who is to be blamed?** ***Are we to blame Tony for drinking more than enough alcohol or are we to blame Cynthia for not telling Tony that she was coming over to the house? Should we blame Cynthia for drinking more than enough alcohol as a means to kill boredom or are we to blame Kelvin for cutting short his trip even though it was no fault of his?***   **What would you do if you find yourself in this scenario?** You know life is just like a movie and we are not in charge of the acts and scenes but we can only learn from the mistakes of others***.
