For every man or woman who has ever tasted or drank a good quantity of alcohol, there is an amount of intoxication waiting to manifest as a result of what has been consumed. It may be mild or severe depending on the quantity of alcohol consumed. This alcohol consumption may come in the likes of scotch, whisky, spirit or ethanol, beer, stout or even in form of red wine which comes in both sweet and soured taste. In all of these drinks, there is a level of intoxication that must occur when a man consumes more than what his body can contend with. Most times it may seem stupid to a non-alcoholic person to see people who are ready to soak themselves in alcohol, all in the name of looking for either satisfaction or to console themselves because of one emotional trauma, which can be caused either by loss of job, heartbreak, death of a loved one and lack of money. An average man or woman is prone to becoming an alcoholic in life either by crook or by hook this is why it is so important for one to attain the legal age which is specified by laws of countries and states in other not to go into alcohol consumption premature.
What we see today is completely heartbreaking, because cases of children who have gotten so involved in the consumption of alcohol by faking their ID’s makes it easy for them to walk into a club, liquor shop or even pick a bottle of alcohol from a shop. This has increased the rate of alcoholic persons in our communities by more than %50 on daily basis, even though the authorities are fighting so hard to win this war yet abuse of alcohol is on the increase most especially within those below the specified legal age. The effect of alcohol on the body is comparable to that of love when a person’s heart has fallen in love. This is the reason why I have chosen to look at Alcohol and Love with regards to their intoxicating nature. I will urge you to come with me as we explore the world of love and its intoxicating nature.
Does Love Intoxicate?
I decided to ask this question because I believe that through asking questions our minds will go in search of answers which will lead us to the realities of life. Have you ever been intoxicated either by love or alcohol? Like I have stated above in my introduction to this article, alcohol overdose will lead to intoxication but have you also noticed that love can intoxicate? This intoxication comes from the excess sweetness that comes with love and you must understand that the love I am talking about is the true love that exists between a mother and her baby, also the love that exists between two persons who are genuinely in love with each other. Most times we see ourselves falling in love with the right person and this makes us feel so sweet or should I say feel butterflies in the belly. The sweetness we feel is what I described as intoxication just as seen in alcohol consumption. I understand that the intoxication alcohol gives is momentary, that is why I would look at the momentary sweetness or intoxication that happens in love.
Momentary Intoxication
Both alcohol and love can have a momentary intoxication. This is more pronounced in the case of alcohol intoxication because the system of the consumer who has taken some quantity of alcohol will at some point become normal again. This is why he/she will go back to drink more alcohol the next minute or day and by so doing he/she gradually turns to an alcoholic. It may interest you to know that alcohol runs in the blood which is why it is always hard to come clean when you have crossed the line.
Love cannot be completely compared to alcohol but there are glaring similarities between the two. When you fall in love, it becomes the best thing to ever happen to you especially if your pattern genuinely reciprocates the love you have offered. In the beginning, it will be all rosy and sweet giving you that intoxicating feeling you will get in alcohol. Mind you, love does not run in the blood because it is not a physical liquid or material one can see rather it is felt. Its intoxication flows from one loving heart to another until a red flag comes which hampers the sweetness. Those who have experienced true love will never want to let it go just as does who have been intoxicated by alcohol will always run to it for more intoxication. Can we say that love and alcohol make life sweet and sour? It would not be out of place for one to say this because looking at the power and effects of the two, it seems very imperative.
For a man who loves with his whole heart, a heartbreak either caused by a silly mistake or on purpose will drive him far away from love but not without causing him pain. This is also seen in the life of alcohol abusers. By the time they get to the level of not living a day without having to drink alcohol, it will become a huge problem if by chance they do not take alcohol in a day. This is where the problem comes in their life because it will affect the relationship they have with both their children and friends. The question one should ask is this; how can we control the level of intoxication we get from love and alcohol? For clarity, I will make it clear that alcohol consumption must be approached with so much carefulness. Do not walk into the field of alcohol when you know that you cannot control what comes out of it. The difference between alcohol and love is that alcohol can be seen and felt, it easy to control but love cannot be touched and it happens even when we do not expect it.
