There was once a time in the life of many of us, especially while we were still very young, we use to own our packs of crayons which we use in colouring our drawings back then. I do believe that there are still a lot of people out there who are still making use of crayons in their daily activities. Can you just take your memory back down the lane in other to understand what I am talking about right now? I believe most of us had the opportunity of making use of crayons while growing up. Although technology and development have given us a lot of new colouring tools, crayons can never be forgotten a lot of us. Are you still with me? I know you will be wondering what or where the post is headed to, please continue reading for a better understanding.

What is a Crayon?

I hope you are not expecting me to explain what a crayon is because I believe you do know what it is. Because of this post and the message I intend to pass across to my readers, I will explain what a crayon is with this short story.

Once upon a time, there lived two little boys who were friends and lived in the same neighbourhood. Both of them were enrolled in the same school by their parents and in one of the classes, the teacher gave them the assignment to draw and colour a car with the aid of a crayon. In other, for the class to have a uniform drawing, she asked them to use the same colour and they agreed to use green.

When these two friends got how they went to their various houses and started with the assignment. Anthony who has always loved to play with his crayon picked the green coloured crayon and painted the card he drew. On the other hand, Mark who never saw the need of buying a pack of crayons if the entire colours can not be used on a particular drawing decided to use three different colours.

When they both got to school, the teacher requested that every pupil submitted their assignment for evaluation. While the teacher was going through the assignments, she stumbled upon Mark's assignment. Instantly she called Mark's attention just to inquire why he did something different. The little boy looked at the teacher and said;

"Miss Grace, I believe every stick of the crayon in the pack deserves an opportunity to show its uniqueness irrespective of the drawing."

He continued by highlighting the different parts of the car and the need for each of the parts to have different colouring. As he finished, the teacher asked the entire class what they thought about Mark's drawing and colouration. They unanimously agreed that the different colours made the drawing pop out more.

Lessons from Mark and the Crayon.

Just as we all know, the pack of crayons is filled with different colours irrespective of the owner's favourite colours. This is because every colour in the pack plays a unique role just as young Mark pointed out to his teacher. Now, I would want you to look at the pack of crayons as the world we live in today. We are different colours in one pack with our uniqueness, weakness and strength. Colours are not as seen in a race or ethnic diversity but as seen in just a pack of crayons.

  • Understanding that anywhere you find yourself at any particular time in life determines that you give out your best. This is done in other not to become just a stick of crayon not used or without having any impact on a drawing.

  • We must be ready to showcase our uniqueness at all times irrespective of what or where we are at the moment.

  • Understanding that we are blessed with different gifts just like the different colours in a pack of crayons, we will be more productive at all times.

You are more important than a stick of crayon therefore, don't live your life without making a positive impact in and around your community and your world at large.
