Text: Isa. 40: 31
“But those who trust the Lord will find new strength, they will be strong like eagles soaring upward on wings, they will walk and run without getting tired.” Isa. 40: 31 (CEV )
Strength is essential for anyone who desire to succeed in life. Life is full of divers situations that tend to put us under pressure in one form or the other and strength is a necessary asset for those who will successfully ride through life's pressure and challenges. Through life's journey, there are bound to be days of distress, days of adversity and when such days come for you as it will surely come for every one living, what you need to counter and to overcome is strength, without the required level of strength failure becomes inevitable – “If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.” (Prov. 24: 10).
Knowing the importance of strength therefore, people go all out to seek for strength – some begin to patronise the gym in order to grow muscle and stamina – this may give them physical strength, Isa. 40: 30 however reveals to us that physical strength will fail and it will fail when we need it the most. Some understand the limitations of physical strength and so they visit herbalists, witchdoctors and other agents of satan in search of charms, concoctions or rituals that will give them strength, those who patronize these agents will however discover soon enough that these approach will only lead to greater complications in their lives. Putting all these strengths together, Hannah said in 1 Sam. 2: 9 that by strength shall no man prevail.
So if physical strength or strength sourced from the devil is inadequate, what then is the way out? What strength do we need?
Our anchor text gives us the answer to this question – it says that what we need is the strength of God.
With the strength of God, David defeated Goliath (1 Sam. 17: 48-51), with the strength of God Samson did great exploits – he tore a lion to pieces as though he was tearing a young goat (Jud. 16: 5-6), with jawbone of an ass, he killed 1000 philistines (Jud. 15: 15), he pulled up the gate of a city with the pillar and all and carried it to the top of a hill (Jud. 16: 3)
With these same strength from God, Elijah journeyed for 40days by walking without food (1 Kings 19: 8)! He literally demonstrated Isa. 40: 31.
This strength no doubt is desirable and it is readily available for all who are in Christ. As a child of God the passages like our anchor text and other passages assures us that God’s strength is available to you, you need not operate in your strength when God’s strength is available to you.
Are you weak, Are you weary? Are you becoming fainthearted? All these are signs that you lack the strength of God and that you have been operating in your strength. You can however switch over now to God’s strength, all that you need beyond faith is the ability to be able to wait. Whosoever desires to operate in the strength of God must be an expert in waiting for God. Many of us can be very restless especially when we are under pressure, we want to multi task and do so many things at once, this however can be counterproductive, but when you wait for God, He may appear to be slow but ultimately He will come through for you and the waiting period will have been worth it.
Whatever challenge or situation that confronts you now, His strength is available for you, His strength will see you through. Shalom.

1. Thank the Lord for the privilege of having access to His strength.
2. Father, please forgive me for any ungodly path that I may have followed to look for strength outside you
3. Father, help me not to trust in my strength or ability anymore, help me to be fully dependent on your strength.
4. Father, please fill my life with your strength that will make it impossible for me to faint in my journey through this life.
5. Father, I receive grace to wait patiently on you for constant renewal of strength, help
