How I won my first scholarship
I know some of us here are students who need other source of funds to help out in paying of our fees at school. Many of us have tried some scholarship examinations and still no positive reply. Don't give up yet.
Here is my story on how I got my first scholarship.
Since 2016, I have been writing so many scholarship examinations because I needed to help my parents out in paying my school fees.
I applied for up to 20+ scholarships and still no positive reply. One day, I read a post on whatsapp on how a guy won a scholarship after several applications. The guy said, he took every money he spent on applying for scholarships as an investment. This post gave me courage to continue applying for scholarships.
I help up to those words, started applying again after giving up for so long.
I applied for a government funded scholarship for the first time in 2017, after writing the exam, I didn't get any feedback from them.
In 2018, I applied again, hoping to win it this time. The same story again, no feedback from them.
In 2019, I was in my penultimate year and I just applied again without much expectations. I didn't want to put so much hope on it again because of my previous heart breaks. I just wrote the scholarship test and forgot about it. After 6 months, I got a call from the Federal Government Education Board that I was among the 2019 awardees.
What???!!!!!! You know that feeling you get from something you didn't put much hope??? That's how I felt. I was at my happiest feeling!!
So what am I saying? Don't give up on that scholarship applications.
Take every expenses spent on scholarship applications as an investment.
One day, it will pay off.
